Bhangra Presentation

Bhangra is a musical genre that developed in the UK in the 1980s through the fusion of traditional Punjabi folk music and Western popular music styles like rock, pop, and disco. It is characterized by a fast tempo of 140-180 beats per minute in common time, with instrumentation including traditional Punjabi instruments like the dhol drum and tumbi lute as well as Western instruments like keyboards and electric guitars. The syncopated rhythmic pattern called the chaal provided by the dhol drum is a defining feature. Bhangra songs typically have a verse-chorus structure and use vocal techniques including limited melodic range and shouts in Punjabi.
