in early India.
HISTORY The pre-Aryans, the Greeks, the
hunas, the turks and many others
OF INDIA made India their home.
This is another reason why India is
such a diverse land.

• GEOGRAPHICAL DIVERSITY
• DIVERSITY IN FLORA AND FAUNA
• RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY
• DIVERSITY IN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
• DIVERSITY IN FESTIVALS
• CULTURAL DIVERSITY
WHAT IS DIVERSITY?
• UNDERSTANDING THAT EACH INDIVIDUAL IS UNIQUE.
• RECOGNIZING OUR INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES
• THESE CAN BE ALONG THE DIMENSIONS OF RACE, ETHNICITY, GENDER, RELIGIOUS
BELIEFS, POLITICAL BELIEFS AND OTHER IDEOLOGIES.
GEOGRAPHICAL DIVERSITY
• INDIA HAS GREAT DIVERSITY OF PHYSICAL FEATURES LIKE DRY DESERTS, EVERGREEN FORESTS,
SNOWY HIMALAYAS, A LONG COAST AND FERTILE PLAINS.
• VARIETY OF CLIMATES FROM THE BLAZING HEAT OF THE PLAINS TO THE FREEZING POINTS OF
THE HIMALAYAS.
DIVERSITY IN FLORA AND FAUNA
• THE VARIATION OF CLIMATE HAS CONTRIBUTED TO A VARIETY OF FLORA AND FAUNA.
• INDIA POSSESSES THE RICHEST VARIETY OF PLANTS AND ANIMALS KNOWN TO THE WORLD.
DIVERSITY IN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
• THERE ARE MORE THAN 14 MAIN LANGUAGES IN INDIA SUCH AS SANSKRIT, HINDI, PUNJABI,
TELUGU, ETC.
• EVERY LANGUAGE HAS ITS OWN LITERATURE.
RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY
• INDIA IS A MULTI-RELIGIOUS COUNTRY.
• THERE ARE SIX MAJOR RELIGONS IN INDIA NAMELY HINDUISM, JAINISM., SIKHISM, ISLAM,
ZOROASTRIANISM.
DIVERSITY IN FESTIVALS

• EVERY RELIGION AND MOST COMMUNITIES HAVE


THEIR OWN FESTIVALS.
• THERE ARE FESTIVALS FOR EVERY LEGEND AND MYTH,
EVERY SEASON AND EVERY REGION.
