CO PO Mapping Presentation

This document discusses outcome-based education (OBE) and its implementation at Marathwada Institute of Technology Polytechnic. It defines OBE as focusing on what students learn rather than what is taught. The key aspects of OBE discussed include: - Program education objectives (PEOs) which describe career goals. - Program specific outcomes (PSOs) which are abilities specific to a program. - Program outcomes (POs) which are skills all students should develop. - Learning outcomes (LOs) which are expectations at different cognitive levels. It also discusses mapping courses to outcomes to ensure the curriculum supports the intended outcomes.

WHAT IS OBE
MARATHWADA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,
POLYTECHNIC, ROTEGAON

WHAT IS OBE?
ITS NOT WHAT WE TEACH…..
ITS WHAT YOU LEARN…..
OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION (OBE) is an educational approach
that focuses on the outcomes after completing an academic programme.
The desired outcomes determined first and the programme
curriculum , teaching, Learning methodology and supporting facilities are
designed to support the intended outcome
Outcome based approach means knowing what you want to
achieve and then taking the steps to do so…

POLYTECHNIC, ROTEGAON

WHAT IS OBE?
Ex1 : Carpenter wants to build a table, he has a picture
of table in mind then he assembles his material and tools,
and begins a step by step process until he has a table.

Ex2 : Mother wants to Cook a meal, She has a picture of

it in mind then she assembles her material and tools, and
begins a step by step process to create a meal.

EXPECTATION ON STUDENTS UNDER OBE – THE OUTCOMES

Students are expected to be able to do more
challenging task other than memorize and reproduce what
was thought.
Students should be able to :
Write project proposals, complete projects, analyze case
studies, give case presentation, show their abilities to think,
question, research, and make decision based on the
findings.
MARATHWADA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,
POLYTECHNIC, ROTEGAON

EXPECTATION ON STUDENTS UNDER OBE – THE OUTCOMES

Be more creative, able to analyze and synthesize

information

Able to plan and organize tasks, able to work in team as

a community to propose solutions to problems, and market
their solutions.

PROGRAMME EDUCATION OBJECTIVES (PEO’S)

Programme Education objectives are broad based
statements that describe the career and professional
accomplishments that the program is preparing students to
achieve.
Achievements of PEO’s:
There should be enough evidence and documentation to
show the achievement of PEO’s as set by the Institution with
the help of the assessment and evaluation process that have
been developed.
MARATHWADA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,
POLYTECHNIC, ROTEGAON

PROGRAMME EDUCATION OBJECTIVES (PEO’S)

FOR SAMPLE: MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
PEO 1. Provide socially responsible, environment friendly
solutions to Mechanical engineering related broad-based
problems adapting professional ethics.
PEO 2. Adapt state-of-the-art Mechanical engineering broad-
based technologies to work in multi-disciplinary work
environments.
PEO 3. Solve broad-based problems individually and as a team
member communicating effectively in the world of work.
