1) introduction
All of us spend a lot of
time in the workplace,
and only healthy
employees can perform
well. When it comes to
occupational safety, we
don’t compromise: The
goal is “zero
accidents”!

2) OHS Policy
I engineering recognizes
its moral and legal
responsibilities under
occupational health and
IMS Policy
safety legislation to
provide a safe and
healthy work
environment

3) Personal Protection Equipment PPE
.
1. What PPE is required for your particular job?
2. When is the PPE required to be used in your job?
3. What are the possible defects your PPE might have?
4. How do you properly care for and maintain/store your PPE?
5. What is the useful life of your PPE?
6. From what hazards does the PPE protect you?

4)Head Protection
.
Why is Head Protection Important?
In and around your head are:
Your eyes, with which you see
Your ears, with which you hear
Your nose, with which you smell
Your mouth, with which you eat
and speak
Your brain, with which you think
Injuries to the head are very
serious. For this reason, it is
important to use the head
protection

5)Why is Hand Protection Important?
Without your fingers or hands,
your ability to work would be greatly
reduced.
Hands Hazards:
Tools and machines with a sharp edges
can cut your hands.
Getting your hands caught in machinery
can crush, or remove your hands
and fingers

6) Why is Foot Protection Important?
-The human foot is rigid enough to
support the weight of your entire body,
it allows you to run, dance, play sports.
Without your feet and toes, your
ability to work would be reduced.
Incidences of Foot Hazards
Impact Injuries
Compression Injuries
Electrical Shocks

7)Why is body protection important
The skin acts as a natural barrier to
the elements
Chemicals can break down the skin
barrier and allow secondary infections
to manifest
Types of Body Hazards
Temperature stress
Chemical Contact
Radiation

16) Manual Handling
Use your hands and not just your fingers to get a
good grip on the load
Place your feet shoulder width apart for good balance
Bend at your knees and not at your waist to maintain
your center of balance and to utilize the strong leg
muscles to do the lifting
Try to keep the load between your knees and
shoulders
Avoid twisting your back
Avoid performing the same lifting task repeatedly
