Hydrometeorological hazards are atmospheric, hydrological or oceanographic processes that can cause loss of life, property damage, economic disruption or environmental degradation. Examples include tropical cyclones, monsoon rains, tornadoes, thunderstorms, floods, drought, wildfires, and storm surges. A storm surge is a rise in seawater caused primarily by the winds of a tropical cyclone, flooding coastal areas. Thunderstorms produce lightning, thunder, strong winds and heavy rain.

Hydrometeorological hazards are
processes of atmospheric, hydrological or oceanographic nature that may cause the loss of life or injury, property damage, social and economic disruption or environmental degradation.
Examples are tropical cyclones, monsoon rains (habagat
and amihan), tornado, ipo-ipo and thunderstorms, floods, drought, wildfire and storm surges. Typhoon are hydrometeorological hazards characterized by strong winds and heavy rain. Thunderstorms are generally local storms produced by cumulonimbus clouds and are always accompanied by lightning and thunder, usually with strong wind gusts, heavy rain and sometimes with hail and/or tornado. Flood is the overflowing of the normal confines of a stream or bodies of water, or the accumulation of water over areas that are not normally submerged. Below is a list of things that you can to do before, during and after a flooding event. Storm surge is the rise and onshore surge of seawater as the result primarily of the winds of a tropical cyclone, and secondarily of the surface pressure drop near the center of the tropical cyclone. Storm Surge El Niño is a significant increase in ocean temperature over the eastern and central Pacific ocean. It occurs at irregular intervals ranging from 2-7 years usually developing in the early months of the year and decay the following year. In the Philippines, El Niño conditions are often characterized by dry and warm-hot events. Quiz #2 1.Describe as the rise and onshore surge of seawater as the result primarily of the winds of a tropical cyclone. 2.Wind that reverses its direction with the season. 3. A narrow, violently rotating column of air that extends from the base of a thunderstorm to the ground. 4.Flash flood can cause _________. a. landslide b. rockslide c. mudslide d. a, b, c 5-7. Differentiate Cyclone, Typhoon and Hurricane. (3 pts) 8 -10. List the different effects cause by a hydrometeorological phenomenon. (3 pts.)
