Vygotsky's Socio-Cultural Theory: Maria Rita D. Lucas, PH.D

Lev Vygotsky was a Russian psychologist known for his socio-cultural theory of cognitive development. His theory emphasized the important role of social interaction and language in cognitive development, unlike Piaget who focused more on individual stages. Vygotsky believed that learning occurs through participation in social activities where more knowledgeable individuals like parents and teachers contribute to a child's development through explanation, modeling, and feedback.
