Rizal was not awarded a prize at the International Art Competition but other Filipinos like Luna and Pardo de Tavera won prizes. Rizal founded several organizations like the Kidlat Club and R.D.L.M. Society while in Paris and proposed the idea of an International Association of Filipinologists. He published annotated editions of Morga's book and the pamphlet "Por Telefono". Rizal visited London briefly around Christmas before returning to Paris where an influenza epidemic was
