FINANCIAL ANALYSIS

ON AXIS BANK
HISTORY
 Axis Bank India, the first bank to begin operations as new private banks in 1994 after the Government of
India allowed new private banks to be established. Axis Bank was jointly promoted by the Administrator of the
specified undertaking of the Unit Trust of India (UTI-I), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and General
Insurance Corporation Ltd. Also with associates viz. National Insurance Company Ltd., The New India Assurance
Company, The Oriental Insurance Corporation and United Insurance Company Ltd.
 Axis Bank first introduced as UTI Bank created a lot of confusion among shareholders of the corporation. So
the board decided to change the name to Axis Bank to differentiate it from UTI.
 Axis Bank in India today is capitalized with Rs. 282.65 Crores with 57.05% public holding other than
promoters. It has more than 574 branch offices and Extension Counters in the country with over 2428 Axis Bank
ATM proving to be one of the largest ATM networks in the country.

 Total Assets as on 31st March 2019 – 242713.37 Cr.

 Total Debt as on 31st March 2019 - 215505.67 Cr.

RATIO ANALYSIS

 The Capital Adequacy ratio as on 31st March 2019 – 15.21

 The Debt-Equity ratio as on 31st March 2019 – 235.24
 The Current ratio as on 31st March 2019 – 255.24
 The Quick ratio as on 31st March 2019 – 248.26
 The Advances to Assets ratio as on 31st March 2019 – 1.60
 The Govt. Securities to Total Investments ratio as on 31st March 2019
– 1.86
CONCLUSION
 My Analysis shows that bank’s current ratio is better than the quick ratio. It means
bank has invested more in current assets than the fixed assets and liquid assets. The cash
flow statement shows that net increase in cash generated from operating and financing
activities is much more than the previous year but cash generated from investing activities
is negative in both years. The Analysis of cash flow statement shows that cash inflow is
more than the cash outflow in AXIS Bank. Thus, AXIS Bank’s financial position is good.
Bank’s profitability is increasing but not at high rate. AXIS Bank is on the first position
among the entire private sector bank of India in all areas but it should pay attention on its
profitability and liquidity. Bank’s position is stable.
