Expanded Program On Immunization/National Immunization Program

The Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) was established in 1976 to provide infants, children and mothers access to routinely recommended vaccines for six diseases: tuberculosis, poliomyelitis, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and measles. The EPI initially targeted these six vaccine-preventable diseases with vaccines administered through intramuscular, subcutaneous, oral, or intradermal routes.
