City Jail

A jail is a building used to confine individuals sentenced for minor crimes or awaiting trial. Jails are usually the first place a person is taken after arrest and house both pre-trial detainees and those convicted of minor crimes for short periods. Designing a jail requires considering the site selection, building area needs, outdoor spaces, and technical requirements. It also requires allocating space for intake and release, housing, healthcare, visitation, exercise, programs, commissary, food service, laundry, administration, staff areas, and storage.
