e Fence

The document describes a proposed solar electric fencing system project. The system would use a solar panel to charge a battery, which would power an energizer to transform current into a high voltage to electrify fence wires. This would deter animals from touching the fence and entering farmland, reducing crop damage. A soil moisture sensor would also be included to automatically operate a water pump based on soil moisture levels, maintaining an optimal amount of water for plants. The system aims to provide a low-cost, reliable method of protecting agricultural lands and crops from animals using solar power.

Project Title

Solar Electric Fencing System

INTRODUCTION

• Nowadays the use of electric fence for control and content livestock are having a
large application in almost all countries of the world. Electric Fence was starting to
use in the thirties and nowadays is used in all world in little and big farms. Brazil,
like the major exporter of beef cattle is a great consumer of this technology.
• Big farms with large areas of control need electric fences energizers of large capacity
to keep high voltage in all its extension. But not much information about safety use
and project is presented in papers and available for consumers and manufacturers as
well electric fences characteristics.
• There are in Brazil many manufacturers of this kind of equipment, but these
manufacturers use empiric rules to design this kind of equipments. This work intends
to be a starting point to change this reality involving the academic researchers in the
study of this problem. The different parts of the fence.
 To some people fences represent a physical and psychological barrier to their
use of resources behind the fence. To others they represent a solution to the
conflict between people and animals.

 Fencing projects must reconcile these differing views if they are to be

successful. Elephants are too valuable to be destroyed as crop raiders because
their full value cannot be realised when shot as crop raiders.

 The soil moisture sensor consists of two leads that are used to measure volume of water
content in soil. These leads allow the current to pass through the soil and in return
calculates the resistance value to measure the moisture level. If there is more water in
soil then soil will conduct more electricity, means less resistance value along with high
level of moisture. In the same manner if there is less water in soil then soil will conduct
less electricity, means high resistance value along with low level of moisture.
Literature Survey
1.Solar Fencing Unit and Alarm for Animal Entry Prevention
 Agriculture meets food requirements of the people and produces several raw materials for
industries. But because of animal interference in agricultural lands, there will be huge loss
of crops. Crops are vulnerable to wild animals. Therefore, it is very important to monitor
the nearby presence of animals. Then the actuation of various devices should follow to
repel the hazardous animals. we propose a method to protect farms from wild animals
Operational amplifier circuits are utilized mainly for the detection of animal intrusion
from the outside of farms. The proposed monitoring scheme is to provide an early
warning about possible intrusion and damage by wild animals.

2. SOLAR BASED ELECTRONIC FENCING

 This paper introduces fundamental concepts of electric fence technology, presents a new
design method for a livestock electric fence energizer circuit and impulse transformer as
well a mathematic analyze of the circuit. A new expression for design single impulse
transformers for this kind of application is presented who has different project criteria
from conventional transformer applications. The Energizer equipment is rounded about
many concepts, safety standards and data performance that are discussed. An electric
circuit prototype of Electric Fence Energizer Equipment for livestock use was
implemented and the results are showed. This work is based on a study developed in a
Master Thesis.

3. Solar Power Fencing For Crop Protection From Monkey Menace And Domestic /
Wild Animals In Himachal Pradesh

 Farmers are always exposed to various external risks like weather dependence,
market prices, inputs availability etc. Another potent risk for farming is damage to
crops by stray/ wild animals. For Himachal Pradesh more than wild animals the
farmers are exposed to risk of crop damage from monkeys. As per Department of
Agriculture and Department of Horticulture Government of Himachal Pradesh
estimates, an area of 1.56 lakh ha is affected by monkey and wild life menace which
annually causes loss of Rs.229 crores to the farmers.
Problem Statement

possible intrusion and damage by wild animals.
 The Solar Electric Fence system is a modern day alternative to conventional
methods of fencing to protect your crops & property. Electric Fence is an effective
way to reducing losses caused by animals.
Aim

The main purpose of project is to develop prohibitive fencing to the farm, to avoid
losses due to animals. These prohibitive fencing protect the crop from damaging that
indirectly increase yield of the crop.

The develop system will not harmful and injurious to animal as well as human
beings. Theme of project is to design a intelligent security system for farm protection
by using Embedded system. Crops are vulnerable to animals. Therefore, it is very
important to monitor the nearby presence of animals.

simple and exciting automatic plant watering system that you can build yourself in
just a few hours. It is an Arduino based automatic plant watering system that uses a
soil moisture sensor
Objective
 While number of alternatives are practiced by farmers and government to protect
the crops from damage by monkeys and wild animals, none of these assure 100%
success in crop protection. A new technique of power fencing is seen as ultimate
solution.
 The solar powered fenceelectrifies the fence with pulsating current and these pulses
are the “shock” felt by an animal that touches an electrified fence. Unlike a
conventional fence, an electric fence is a psychological barrier such that animals
learn to respect the fence.
 Any periphery can be solar fenced, though the cost differs with respect to the area to
be fenced.
 The ability to precisely control watering according to specific conditions in the
yard is the key to how an automatic sprinkler system conserves water.
 WHY GO FOR SOLAR POWER FENCING?

1. For animal control

• Keep animals, including wild and vermin, away.
• Growing, rationing of crops and pastures can be improved during slow growth
periods.
• Separate various types and classes of animals.
• Fence off trees, rivers, eroding areas and roads.
2. For profit
• Substantial increase in the pasture production.
• The return of valuable animal manure more evenly over the grazing area than
having it concentrated in specific areas.
• Better protection of crops from animals.

Methodology
 Working of solar power fencing system

 A solar panel is made up of a number of photovoltaic cells connected in series.

Electricity is generated by these cells. Combined into a solar panel, these cells can
produce enough voltage to charge a regular 12 volt battery.
 The solar panel ensures that the battery remains charged at all times. The battery
stores the energy generated by the panel, and powers the energizer 24 hours a day. The
energizer is the device which transform the low voltage current from battery to high
voltage (upto 10,000 volts) current and send it to the electric fence.
 This way the fence is electrified and animals touching the fence receive the shock.
Due to high voltage shock to the animals touching the fence, animals keep away from
the fence and field is protected.
 soil moisture sensor senses the moisture level of the soil. If soil will get dry then
sensor senses low moisture level and automatically switches on the water pump to
supply water to the plant. As plant get sufficient water and soil get wet then sensor
senses enough moisture in soil. After which the water pump will automatically get
stopped.
 The Solar Power Fencing Technology:

 The fence is like barbed wire fencing with multiple strands of plain wires and
metal/cement/ wooden posts to hold the strands in position. The wires carry
high voltage current. The Solar Power Fence gives a sharp, short but a non-
lethal shock to the intruder and creates psychological fear, against any
tampering.
 The alarm incorporated in the system gets activated and alert the inmates of the
protected area. These are tailor made fences and can be designed according to
customer needs and site condition. The following diagram describes the solar
fencing system

 The Soil Moisture Sensor uses capacitance to measure the water content
of soil (by measuring the dielectric permittivity of the soil, which is a function
of the water content). Simply insert this rugged sensor into the soil to be tested,
and the volumetric water content of the soil is reported in percent.
Future Scope

 Simple circuit and easy to operate.

 Fast and simple installation.
 Location flexibility.
 Low cost maintenance.
 Automatic operation.
 High reliability and long lifetime.
 Digital display
 You can also add an Ethernet or Wi-Fi shield and use the Twitter library, which will
tweet from your plants side to send messages like: I need water, the tank is empty,
refill the tank, thanks for the water, and so on.
Advantages
 Low power consumption
 Less cost
 High Efficiency
 Power consumed is available free of cost
 Man power reduction
