Objective
The objective of the project is to study the behavior of marble dust concrete for water curing.
Also we are interested to study the compressive strength of marble dust concrete for 0%, 5%,
10%, 15% & 20%. Replacement of cement by marble dust for water curing.Theconcrete
specimens are then allowed for 7 and 28 days for water curing . Then test will give us the
nature of profile compressive strength variations and this variations can be effectively represent
ed by means of graph.
ABSTRACT
• Marble is industrially processed by being cut, polished, and used for decorative
purposes, and thus, economically valuable.
• In marble quarries, stones are cut as blocks through different methods
• During the cutting process, 20-30% of a marble block becomes waste marble
powder.Marble powder is a waste material generated in considerable amounts
in
the world
• Marble waste leads to a serious environmental problem as well
• Hence the reuse of waste material has been emphasized.Waste can be used to
produce new products or can be used as admixtures so that natural resources
are used more efficiently
INTRODUCTION
• Blended cements based on the partial replacement of Portland cement clinker
(PC) by wastes have been the subject of many investigations in recent years
• These materials participate in the hydraulic reactions, contributing significantly
to the composition and micro structure of hydrated product
• In building industry, Marble has been commonly used for various purposes like
flooring, cladding etc., as a building material since the ancient times
• The industry's disposal of the marble powder material, consisting of very fine
powder, today constitutes one of the environmental problems around the world
• In India, marble dust is settled by sedimentation and then dumped away which
results in environmental pollution, in addition to forming dust in summer and
threatening both agriculture and public health
NOMINAL MIX CONCRETE DESIGN FOR ONE METRE
CUBE OF M20 CONCRETE
• It takes 1.5 cubic meter of total material to prepare one cubic of concrete,
because cement and sand fills the gaps between the aggregate (crushed stone).
• Let’s design M20 grade concrete.
• Ratio for M20 concrete is 1:1.5:3
CALCULATIONS:
For M20 take w/c Ratio=0.5
weight of concrete is 2400X3375x10-6=8.1 Kgs
the proportional weight of cement is given as (1/5.5)x8.1=1.472 Kgs
the weight of fine aggregate is given as =(1.5/5.5)x8.1=2.209 Kgs
the weight of coarse aggregate is given as =(3/5.5)x8.1=4.4181 Kgs
The weight of fine aggregate is given as =(1.5/5.5)x8.1=2.209 Kgs the
weight of coarse aggregate is given as =(3/5.5)x8.1=4.4181 Kgs

Workability
It is observed here that degree of workability is medium as per IS 456-2000.
The slump values of the concretes obtained from waste marble granules mix
gave negligible effect as compared to normal concrete mix
