BELIEVE IN GOD’S
PLAN Genesis 37:5-11 #1
April 4, 2019---Digos City Rev. Valeriano M. Geloca
Dreams are stories and images that our minds create while we sleep. 1. JOSEPH HAD A DREAM In his dream he was out in the field with his brothers and they were tying up bundles of grain. All of a sudden Joseph’s bundle stood up tall while his brothers’ bundles bowed down to it. That sounds pretty crazy right? But then he had a second dream, and in this dream Joseph saw the sun, moon, and 11 stars bowing down to him. 2. GOD CHOSE TO BLESS JOSEPH God chose to bless Joseph even though he sinned and was prideful. Just like Joseph, we don’t deserve God’s blessings, but because God loves us so much he blesses us too! The best and most important blessing from God is Jesus! Instead of punishing us for our pride and sin, God sent His only Son to take the punishment for us. He did this because He loves us so much! Today we can thank God for making a way for our sins to be forgiven so that we can know God more. LIVE IN FRONT OF GOD Genesis 39:4-23 (NIV) #2 The whole character of Joseph and how it clashes with that of his sinful brothers, his relationship with his father, his dreams these all set the stage. 1. GOD TAKES JOSEPH DOWN He was far away from home, alone, a prisoner with nothing but unknown ahead of him. Was he afraid? It is not said. But that in itself is a testimony to the hand of God being upon Joseph. 2. GOD LIFTS JOSEPH UP Joseph was not one who was monetarily successful. He wasn,t wealthy in gold and riches and in the choicest garments, but he was exorbitantly, spiritually wealthy. And God made him that way. 3. GOD MAKES JOSEPH AN INSTRUMENT OF HIS BLESSING Finally, we see Joseph in the hands of God, as God makes Joseph an instrument of His blessing. Look at verse 5. So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian,s house for Joseph,s sake and the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had in the house and in the field. Children, Joseph was in the hands of God. He was used by God. We must see him as an ordinary man used by God in an extraordinary way. God Bless Everyone WAIT WHILE BELIEVING GOD Genesis 39:20-41:43 #3 We want everything done quickly and new devices constantly spring up to meet those demands and encourage our impatience. We are not used to waiting, and the more our technology caters to our immediate desires, the less we feel willing to wait. Such is our dilemma as Christians. While society makes every attempt to make our life easier and faster, God works on a very different timetable. In his mind, nothing is wrong with waiting. In fact, waiting can actually be a positive good that he often uses to make us more like his Son. • 1. GOD WORKS WHILE WE WAIT The story of Joseph is a story of waiting to the right time with God. Joseph believed that God is working the best thing in his life, he experience bad situation in his journey with God and do what people they wanted. He brings blessing to the life of others, he has a great effect, even in their thinking with the God of Joseph. 2. JOSEPH INTERPRETS THE DREAM Our natural response to waiting is often anger or doubt. Fortunately, God is gracious and merciful, understanding of our tendencies. BELIEVE THE GOD WHO ACCOMPLISHES Genesis 45:1-15 #4 In all history there is only one man who had the distinction of making the most dramatic rise to power – from prison cell to prime minister’s office. I. THE PARDONING GRACE OF JOSEPH FOR HIS BROTHERS.
When the drought came it was
so severe that Jacob’s family in Canaan ran out of provisions. 2. THE PRESERVING GRACE OF GOD FOR HIS PEOPLE.
The Promised Grace of Joseph for
His Family In vv.9-13 Joseph tells his brothers to bring their father and their own families from Canaan to Egypt. He has put all things under His feet (1 Corinthians 15;27). All power has been given unto Him in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18). This Brother I am talking about is Jesus.
