Kingdom Eubacteria

This document provides information about the kingdom of Eubacteria. It states that Eubacteria are the most commonly found organisms in the world, present on almost all surfaces, and are prokaryotic cells without nuclei. The document discusses the characteristics of Eubacteria, including being unicellular, having cell membranes with glycerol-ester lipids, peptidoglycan cell walls, and circular chromosomes. It also lists the major phyla of Eubacteria: Chlamydiae, Cyanobacteria, Gram-positive bacteria, Proteobacteria, and Spirochetes.

WHAT IS EUBACTERIA?

Eubacteria are the most commonly found organisms

in the world. They are also known as true bacteria,
and are present on almost all surfaces. They are
prokaryotic cells, and hence do not have a nucleus.
The eubacteria kingdom is one of the six kingdoms
in which the entire living world is classified.
QUICK FACTS
 This kingdom consists of nearly 5000 species that have been
discovered till date, and this number might increase in the near future
as many researches are being conducted regularly. This class of
microorganism was discovered in 1982.
CHARACTERISTICS
•They are unicellular, prokaryotic microscopic cells

•Their cell membrane contain lipids made up of glycerol-ester lipids

•The cell wall is made up of Peptidoglycan (Murein)

•Chromosome is circular and nucleosomes maybe present

•Genetic exchange takes place through unidirectional or

bidirectional DNA transfer
CHARACTERISTICS
•Ribosomes are of 70S type made up of two subunits i.e; 50S-Larger
subunit and 30S-Smaller subunit

•Coupled transcription and translation takes place

TYPES OF Hypothesis
EUBACTERIA
PHYLA
•Chlamydiae

•Cyanobacteria

•Gram-positive bacteria

•Proteobacteria

•Spirochetes
CHLAMYDIAE
•These are more often parasitic bacteria
CYANOBACTERIA
•They are the only photosynthetic prokaryotes able to produce
oxygen.

•Cyanobacteria, which are prokaryotes, are also called "blue-green

algae", though some modern botanists restrict the term algae to
eukaryotes.

•Cyanobacteria appear to have originated in freshwater or a

terrestrial environment.
GRAM-POSITIVE BACTERIA
PROTEOBACTERIA
•Also referred to as "Purple bacteria and relatives", Proteobacteria
makes up one of the largest phyla and most versatile phyla in the
Bacteria domain.
• It consists of several types of bacterial that include phototrophs,
chemolithotrophs and heterotrophs.
SPIROCHETES
Spirochete, (order Spirochaetales), also spelled spirochaete, any of
a group of spiral-shaped bacteria, some of which are serious
pathogens for humans, causing diseases such as syphilis, yaws,
Lyme disease, and relapsing fever.
Spirochetes are gram-negative, motile, spiral bacteria, from 3 to
500 m (1 m = 0.001 mm) long. Spirochetes are unique in that they
have endocellular flagella (axial fibrils, or axial filaments), which
number between 2 and more than 100 per organism, depending
upon the species.
