«10 masterpieces of modern architecture France»

France - is one of the most popular tourist countries. But not all of it draws its
romantic look. After all, today the French architecture - not only to the Eiffel
Tower, the Louvre and the Champs Elysees, and a number of less well-known,
but no less unique places and structures.
1. Grand Theatre in Albi

Modern building of the Grand Theater in the South of France, in the town of
Albi, was built in 2014 by the famous architect Dominique Perrault. In addition
to the theater area of ​the complex includes a cinema for 8 halls, which is
partially located under the theater, partly - in the next building. The main "chip"
appearance of this complex became a metal mesh that helps the building blend
into the landscape of a small town and protects the interior from the hot sun.
The Grand Theater has two halls - a concert for 900 seats and stage - by 250. Very
popular among visitors to the theater are located on the roof terrace-restaurants,
offering stunning views of Albi.
2. Train Station Saint-Exupery Airport Lyon

Railway station name Exupery in Lyon, serving high-speed train TGV, is considered
a major part of the transport complex of the same name of the airport. The author of
such an extraordinary project was the Spaniard Santiago Calatrava, draws its
inspiration from nature. Not surprisingly, shaped building resembles a bird taking
off. Its "wings", weighing 1,300 tons, close a main station building. It is interesting
that in addition to the similarities with the bird on the station can be found and
"silhouettes" of people hiding in the columns in the interior of the station.
3. Skyscraper Tour Carpe Diem in Paris

35-story skyscraper with a characteristic called Carpe Diem (translation. Latin -


"seize the moment") was built in the Paris business district of La Defense on the
project of the American architect Robert Stern in 2013. The main feature of the
tower is its multi-faceted facade. Each of the 30 floors of office is an open space
with no columns, providing workers with daylight and stunning views
the main city of France. On the roof garden of the tower, erected a few
penthouses and large conference rooms.
4. Grande Arche la Defance in Paris

Large arch dimensions 110 x 110 x 110 m was opened in the capital's business
district of La Defense in 1989, the bicentenary of the French Revolution. The
author of the arch innovative project, which is a projection of a hypercube in three
dimensions, was the architect of the Danish Johan Otto von Sprekelsen. At the top
of the Arch is a huge room for all kinds of conventions and exhibitions, as well as
the playground, which offers magnificent views of La Défense and the western
part of Paris. Interestingly, in the process of building the world's first facility
giperarhitektury involved about two thousand skilled workers.
5. Viaduct in Millau

Viaduct in Millau is a model unique structure cable system, passing through the
valley of the river Tarn in the south of France. At the time of construction of the
2004 bridge is considered the highest roads in the world - one of its poles reaches
341 m in height. One of the sponsors of the draft of the viaduct by the legendary
Baron Norman Foster. Most tourists traveling from the South of France or from
Spain to Paris, choosing it because of the way through the viaduct low, and
sometimes even free fare and significant time savings.
6. National Center of Art and Culture Georges Pompidou
in Paris

National Centre for Arts and Culture was opened in Paris in 1977 at the initiative
of French President Georges Pompidou. The museum building, designed by
Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers, is a real masterpiece of architecture and hi-
tech. The main idea of the creative tandem of architects is the location of all the
technical structures (reinforcing connection, elevators and escalators, pipes)
outside the building, which made it possible to release the maximum usable
space. Centre Pompidou in Paris - is one of the most visited tourist sites in the
world, it is visited by more than 6 million people a year.
7. "Pyramid" in the Louvre in Paris

The glass pyramid of the Louvre, built in 1989 in the yard of Napoleon by the
famous American architect Bai Juiman , serves as the main entrance to the
famous museum and is one of the symbols of modern Paris. Around the main
pyramids are located three smaller pyramids - they are only used as windows.
Their verge entirely of glass, thereby providing the best possible coverage of the
underground lobby. Also, the pyramids are arranged around a large decorative
fountains, which together makes an incredible impression on tourists.
8.Park "Futuroscope"

"Futuroscope" - the second most visited theme park in France, near


Disneyland. The park opened in 1987 in the neighborhood of Poitiers, is
unusual: there is no banal rollercoaster, main attractions based on modern
technologies and the impact on the human senses.
Even the appearance of buildings that were built mainly of metal and glass,
surprises: from the roof of the pavilion "Futuroscope" sticking a huge
sphere, "Tapie-Magique" looks like a giant orgán "Kinemax" like a grown
up from the land of immense crystals ... Around - Futuristic type of bridges,
machinery, buildings.
9. "Manny Building" business center in Nantes

Business Centre Manny Building - is an unusual building, whose facade is


formed by a huge number of bent aluminum bars. Manny Building - this is not
a typical office building: it houses the architectural studio, artists' studios and
several showrooms on the ground floor.
10. Museum of Quai Branly in Paris

Quai Branly Museum in Paris was built on the initiative of French President
Jacques Chirac and opened in 2006. Incredible "green" ensemble positions itself as
the world's first cultural institution, at the same time combines the functions of a
museum, research center and social club, which held a variety of activities. It is
worth noting that the project Jean Nouvel took 11 years.
