EVALUATION
AUDIO COMPONENTS
• Studio and locations – comparing sound in a studio to an on location/site its mainly weighing up the quality of
the audio against how excellent the audio sounds.
• Voiceovers – this is a recording of a person that is speaking over a clip a good example would be an narrator.
• Ambient sound – this is the audio that is recorded on location ,it is generally used for background sound and is
heard in the location such as cars driving by ,dogs barking ,people talking or birds chirping.
• Music - this is a collection of vocal or instrumental sound that help amplify a scene and mood of the viewer a
good example would be bottle fights such as ‘The final boss’ where it’s a 1 on 1 fight to the death the music
makes it more tenser.
• Sound effects – these are sounds that are not part of speech or music an example would be gun shots in films.
• Interviews – this is a conversation between two people where one asks the questions and the other answers
,mainly used in documentrys.
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOUND AND
PICTURE
• Diegetic – this sound is a noise that comes from a source that is on the scene ,these
sounds are not edited and would be character footsteps or speech.
• Non-diegetic – this sound is noise that does not have any type of source that can be
found on scene ,these sound are edited an example would be a soundtrack used to set
the tone.
• Meaning – this music is so the editor can add in occupy a deeper meaning with the
action that is happening in the scene.
• External Diegetic – this is similar to non-diegetic as it does not have a source however
cn be seen in the scene and can be heard by both the characters and the audience.
ORIGINAL WALL-E
• The original Wall-e edit had lost of sounds in it as it was an animation these included
• Music
• Voiceover
• Sound effects
• Ambient sound
• Studio
• For my task I had to recreate all the sounds used in the film by myself with a
microphone and editing software ,this was not an easy task buy I really enjoyed it and
it gave me a bigger look into the sound production side of media.
MY EDIT OF WALL-E
• For my evaluation after reviewing my final product I would change a few things and
may be even edit them to be longer and shorter how ever I am pleased with how my
final piece came out as I could not go outside to record sound I had to get creative in
the sound making and editing making this more harder and also fun at the same
time.
• I know have a bigger understanding for the audio and sound design production
teams on sets as they play a crucial role not many would notice and sometimes can
change your opinion of the film.
• I believe I done a good job at this as I researched my sound ,knew what sounds I
needed to make and overall made it watchable and understandable.
