Agenda: - Excretory System (Kidneys, Ureters, Urinary Bladder) - Structure and Function of Nephron

The document discusses the structure and function of the kidney and nephron. It provides details on excretion in humans, the kidney's structure, how the nephron functions through ultrafiltration and selective reabsorption, and dialysis as renal replacement therapy. The document also briefly covers excretion in plants and assigns students to draw a labeled excretory system diagram and define ultrafiltration and selective reabsorption.

AGENDA

• Excretory system
(Kidneys, Ureters, Urinary bladder)

• Structure and function of nephron

EXCRETION
•Excretion :-
Excretion is the process by which the waste products
produced  during metabolic activities is removed from the
body.
•Excretion in Human beings :-
The excretory system consists of a pair of kidneys , a pair
of ureters, urinary bladder and urethra. Each kidney has a
number of excretory units called nephrons.

DIALYSIS
• Dialysis is the process of removing excess water, solutes, and toxins from the
blood in people whose kidneys can no longer perform these functions
naturally. This is referred to as renal replacement therapy.

EXCRETION IN PLANTS
• Gaseous waste through stomata and lenticels.
• Stored solid and liquid waste by shedding leaves, peeling of bark and
falling of fruits.
• By secreting waste in the form of gum and resins.
• Excrete waste into the soil around them.
ASSIGNMENT
• Draw a well labelled diagram of excretory system and write the
function of each part?
• Define the following
a)Ultrafiltration b) Selective reabsorption

ASSIGNMENT

(Refer NCERT TB page no’s 111 to 112)
• Mention any five waste products released by plants.
• Write one difference between kidney and artificial kidney.
