there are two options available to the copyright
owner

WHAT IS CONTENT ID?
• Content ID is a system which
allows copyright owners to easily
identify and manage their content
on YouTube.
• YouTube maintains a database of
files (audio, video etc.) submitted
by copyright owners/partners.
• When a video is uploaded, it is
scanned against this database to
find if the video contains any
material that is protected by a
copyright owner.
WHO CAN USE CONTENT ID?

• YouTube grants
Content ID to
copyright owners
who have
exclusive rights
to the material.

DISPUTING A CONTENT ID
CLAIM
• If the YouTube user believes that the ContentID
claim is wrong, i.e., the video has been
misidentified or the user has all the rights to use
the copyright-protected content, then he/she can
dispute the Content ID claim.

• The copyright owner is notified and has to


respond within 30 days.
