BUDGET

 The working for the show details depends solely on what

budget has been allocated to you and what time do you
have.

 A show can be conducted from anywhere between Rs

50,000 to a Crore.

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Sponsors
 Who are the sponsors?
 The Shows generally have a sponsoring company, it you do not
have one than look for one.
 There are plenty of sponsors who are willing to share this kind of
platform
 The right strategy to approach them with what mileage they will
get has to be highlighted

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Stage and Ramp
 Is one of the components which requires careful planning as this can
eat out your budget.

 Stage and Ramp as people think does not cost much, Instead this is one
of the key components that is seen other than the models……………….

 The key components while planning for stage and ramp are
- Stage dimensions
- Ramp height and length – visibility factors
- Entry and exit points for models
- Branding on the ramp
- Colour of the ramp and Surface texture of the ramp

Backdrop
The stage and ramp is to be complimented with the backdrop. The back
drop generally has to be created for—
 Branding purposes
 Entry and exit gates
 To have green rooms behind
 To give the audience the feel and the pulse of the show

The backdrop should tell the story of the show. It should contain the
following elements—
 Show name
 Sponsors Name and their logos( don’t play with the logos )
 The design and layout should depict the theme of the show
 Lights and smoke guns for special effects

Backstage and Greenrooms
 The backstage is where all the action is happening. The models have to
get into their garments and the change time is barely 2 to 4 minutes. The
backstage is again very crucial as the management of backstage makes
the show going smoothly, any problems in the backstage will ruin the
entire show.

 Check who is managing the backstage and the person should be

competent enough to get the models ready for the next sequence within
the time.

 The greenrooms are places where the models would be changing – so

enough space has to be provided with suitable mirrors ( full length )

 There has to be a helper for each model. The helper’s responsibility to

see that the models wear the right clothes and the right accessories.

Sound and Lights
 The Show moves with the movement of sound and light and the
impact of the show largely depends on the sound and the light
systems hired for the show

 Careful planning of what colour of lights and with what intensity

have to be focused when and where has to be done. A serious
session with the light and sound person is required and a rehearsal
has to be done before the show with these two important elements

 Caution – Do not compromise on these two elements as the

HUMAN SPECIES are easily attracted to these two elements. SO
even if you have to compromise on other elements due to budget
constraints – DO IT but do not compromise with the SOUND AND
LIGHT. There are experts in this area who manage the sound and
light for you.

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Control Console

 The place from where the entire show is coordinated from. This is
the place where the Choreographer, DJ, the sound and light
controller, the AV guy and the compere sit down.
 The control console should be made at the other end of the hall
facing the ramp. So that the visibility factor is high and the entire
stage can be seen for better and easy control
 There are lots of wires – electrical, sound, computer cables running
across. Proper attention is to be paid so that the cables do not
become a problem for the guests. They are the customers

Models
 The most interesting element of the show. The show runs with the
walk of the models.

 Today we have plenty of professional models who are available for

doing these ramp shows

 Expense on hiring of the models generally takes 50% of your

budget. A model of national repute will charge you from Rs10,000
to Rs 40,000 per show, while local models are available for
Rs2000 to Rs 8000

 If you are calling models from outside, than you also have to
provide them the accommodation, local conveyance, to and fro
fare from the place they are coming from

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Compere
 The compere is the person who introduces the show and the
collections before the sequence comes on the ramp.

 The compere should get in writing what has to be told and when.
He is paid for his Voice ONLY.

 A rehearsal should be done with him along with the sound system
to decide the right volume to be used during the show

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Audio Visual

 This is something which is becoming an

essential feature in all the shows.

 The Audio Visual is carefully planned to show

the details of the garments/items which may
not be visible in the short span of time.

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Music
 Music is what sets the sequence to move on the ramp. Selection of
the music has to be done keeping in mind the theme of the
collection.

 The music has to be put in order and burned on a CD before

handing to the DJ for playing it during the show. The DJ carries
his special systems which allows him to control the songs

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Refreshments
 There are lot of professional people who would be working for the
show and the CHAI and some basic refreshments may not be
available at the venue.

 See that you arrange for it in plenty, this does not cost you much
and proper supply of these will ensure you a good work from all
quarters. The Show has everything which needs to be SHOWN and
SEEN by people coming.

 Remember the first impression is also the last impression.

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Invitations and Brochures
 This has to be planned well in advance.

 This is generally done by the company for which you are

conducting a show. But if you have to take care of this, than
make sure you have taken the consent of the organizing company
before sending it for printing

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Layout and Seating arrangements

 The seating arrangements must have special places for yours

VIPS, Guest of Honour and THE PRESS.
 The seating arrangement should be done in such a way that the
person seated at any place in the venue may be able to see the
show.
 Leave at least 20% of space for standing. In India we do not
have shows where names are printed and pasted on chairs and
even if you do it, it does not help. Therefore it is always helpful
by leaving more space for standing.

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Venue – Outdoor or Indoor

 Careful planning has to be done if the show is being done

outdoors.
 Outdoor means you are calling more people and hence your stage
and RAMP has to made more huge

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Time
 The Show should not exceed more than an Hour.
 Start the show on time
 Entry to the venue should only be open 20 minutes before
the start of the show

How to conduct a Fashion Show -

Choreographer
 The person who decides all the elements.
 He is the official controller of the show
 He decides to what pattern of walk has to be done by the models
on the ramp.
 As a choreographer you have to take charge and responsibility of
everything happening in the show.
 If you are hiring a choreographer than you may need to pay him
anything between 30,000 to 75,000 and even more now.
