Rizal and Viola

Rizal and Viola took a grand tour of Europe in 1887, visiting museums, cities, and historic places. They traveled from Dresden to Teschen and Leitmeritz, where they stayed with Ferdinand Blumentritt. As a gift for Blumentritt's hospitality, Rizal painted his portrait. They then went to Vienna, fascinated by its beautiful buildings and charms. Next they took a Danube voyage and noticed passengers using paper napkins. In Rome, Rizal appreciated its grandeur but was outraged by the degradation of Filipinos in Spain. After a week in Rome, Rizal prepared to return home, ending his and Viola's grand tour of Europe.
