THINK about it!
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE
STUDY

SCOPE – describes the coverage of the study. It

specifies what is covered in terms of concept,
number of subject or the population included in
the study, as well as the timeline when the study
was conducted.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE
STUDY

DELIMIT – by citing factors or variables that are

NOT to be included and the boundary in terms of
time frame, number of subjects, participants or
respondents who are excluded. Specify that which
you will not deal within the study.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE
STUDY

It answers the basic questions:

 What – the topic of investigation and the variables included
 Where – The venue or the setting of the research
 When – The time frame by which the study was conducted
 Why – The general objective of the research
 Who – The subject of the study, population and sampling
 How – The methodology of the research which may be include the
research design, methodology and research instrument
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

paper
 Detailsthe contribution or benefit that your study
provides to different people and organizations, including

was given a questionnaire to answer. The students selected came from four
different sections to prevent bias and get objective perceptions.
Read the paragraphs and identify the components in establishing
the scope and delimitations. Consider the basic questions below.

TRUE or FALSE
1. The significance of the study may be omitted from the introduction of the paper.
2. The significance of the study presents the coverage and boundaries of the researcher.
3. The significance of the study establishes the benefits and the impact of your research
on other people, whether they are scholars or not,
4. Stating the scope and limitation is the first phase in research.
5. Delimitation of the study specifies that which you will not deal within the study.
