Economic Society:

From Exclusive to Inclusive

Economic Development
"hacer todo lo posible por mantener la unidad del
espíritu a través del vínculo de la paz"
Ephesians 4:3
INCLUSIVE ECONOMY
 Inclusive economy means creating more
sustainable and inclusive societies that aim at
including all members of society in the growth
process itself instead of distributing wealth among
them after periods of steep growth. ... Inclusiveness
stresses the participation of people in economic,
political and social institutions.
Unity, help other people and no one should
left behind
Five Characteristics of an
INCLUSIVE ECONOMY
 Participation- People are able to participate fully in economic life and have greater say over their
future.
 Equity- More opportunities are available to enable upward mobility for more people. All segments of
society, especially poor or socially disadvantage groups, are able to take advantage of these opportunities.
 Growth– An economy is increasingly producing enough goods and services to enable broad gains in well-
being and greater opportunity.
 Stability- Individuals, communities, businesses and governments have a sufficient degree of confidence in
their future and an increased ability to predict the outcome of their economic decisions.
 Sustainability-Economic and social wealth is sustained over time, thus maintaining inter-generational
well-being.
JUSTICE
 Justice is action in accordance with the requirements of some law.
Whether these rules are grounded in human consensus or societal
norms, they are supposed to ensure that all members of society
receive fair treatment.

 Economic justice is the idea that the economy will be more

successful if it is fairer. ... Universal basic income, income equality by
gender and race, equal opportunity for employment and credit, and
allowing all to reach their full potential are all tenets of economic
justice.
JUSTICE
 Distributive justice, or economic justice, is concerned with giving all
members of society a "fair share" of the benefits and resources
available.

 Procedural justice is concerned with making and implementing

decisions according to fair processes that ensure "fair treatment."
Rules must be impartially followed and consistently applied in order
to generate an unbiased decision. Those carrying out the procedures
should be neutral, and those directly affected by the decisions should
have some voice or representation in the decision-making process.
JUSTICE
• 👊Treat people the way you want to be treated.
• 👊Take Turns.
• 👊 Tell the truth.
• 👊Think about how your actions will affect others.
• 👊 Listen to people with an open mind.
• 👊 Don’t blame others for your mistakes.
• 👊 Don’t take advantage of other people.
• 👊 Don’t play favorites.
JUSTICE
EQUALITY
 Equality is about ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to
make the most of their lives and talents. ... Equality recognises that
historically certain groups of people with protected characteristics such as
race, disability, sex and sexual orientation have experienced discrimination.
Equality is defined as the condition of being equal, or the same in quality,
measure, esteem or value. When men and women are both viewed as being
just as smart and capable as each other, this is an example of equality of the
sexes.
 Also Equality is not always about treating everyone the same – it is about
treating people in such a way that the outcome for each person can be the
same. This means putting things in place to support people to achieve similar
outcomes.
EQUALITY
EQUITY
 " Equity” is one of those terms that everyone seems to understand at
some visceral level, but few people share the same definition. This is
particularly true in philanthropy.

 We believe equity is also different from “equality,” in which everyone

has the same amount of something (food, medicine, opportunity)
despite their existing needs or assets. In other words, whether you
are two feet tall or six, you still get a five-foot ladder to reach a 10-
foot platform.
