A false cognate, or false friend, is a word which has a similar


form to a word in another language but has a different meaning
CONFUSING WORDS

Confusing words are two or more words which:

• have a similar meaning to each other but


which are used in a different way

• are related to the same topic, but have a


different meaning

• look similar, but have a different meaning
