5G Presentation

5G networks aim to address challenges with current 4G technology by providing 1000 times greater system capacity, 10 times higher spectral efficiency, and peak data rates up to 10Gb/s for low mobility. This will be achieved through a heterogeneous network architecture and promising technologies like massive MIMO, spatial modulation, cognitive radio, mobile femtocells, and millimeter wave networks. However, 5G networks also face challenges related to spectrum scarcity, high energy consumption, and ensuring economical and environmentally-friendly solutions.

5G NETWORKS

INTRODUCTION
• Need for improvements in technology
• 2G ---1991
• 3G --- 2001
• With 3G wireless mobile network changed
from telephony system network to transport
rich multimedia
• 4G supports data rates of 1Gb/s for low
mobility and 1Mb/s for high mobility
NEED FOR 5G
Challenges in present Technology:
– Scarcity of Radio Frequency(RF) Spectrum
– High energy Consumption leads high CO2
Emmission
– High data rates and High mobility
– Fragmented User experience
Expectations from 5G
• 1000 times system capacity
• 10 times spectral efficiency
• Peak data rate of 10Gb/s for low mobility and
1 Gb/s for high mobility
• 25 times average cell throughput
All this compared to current 4G systems
POSSIBLE WAYS FOR 5G
• To address the above challenges, we need a dramatic
change in the design of cellular architecture.

Promising Key Wireless Technologies

• Massive MIMO Systems

• Spatial Modulation
• Cognitive Radio Networks
• Mobile Femto Cell
• Visible Light Communications(VLC)
• MM Wave Networks
Massive MIMO Systems
• Conventional MIMO unable to achieve high
multiplexing gains for 5G
Features of Massive MIMO:
• High power gain
• High spectrum efficiency
Challenges in MIMO:
• Severe fading effects for non-stationary high-
mobility channels
Spatial Modulation
Def: Instead of simultaneously transmitting multiple
data streams from the available antennas, SM
encodes part of the data to be transmitted onto the
spatial position of each transmit antenna in the
antenna array.
Problems Solved by SM:
• Interchannel interference
• Inter-antenna synchronization
• Multiple RF chains
• Logarithmic increase in gain
Challenges in SM:
• Complex Signal Processing
Cognitive Radio Networks
• Secondary system can share spectrum bands
with licensed primary system.
• Two types of CR networks: interference-free
basis or an interference-tolerant basis
Challenges in CR Networks:
• Reliable and practical management of
interference
• Regulating Transmit power
• Maintaining Feedback Mechanism
Mobile Femto Cell
An MFemtocell is a small cell that can move
around and dynamically change its connection
to an operator’s core network.
• Suitable for high-mobility environments
• Energy consumption can be reduced
MM Wave Networks
• Supports gigabit wireless services
• Suitable for indoor wireless personal networks
Challenges in MM wave networks:
• Increased path losses
• Different propagation laws
• Sensitivity to blockages
CHALLENGES IN 5G
• The main challenge here is the Economical
and Environmental concerns
