History of ITPO

India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) was incorporated


by merger of Trade Development Authority (TDA), a
Registered Society under the administrativem control of the
Ministry of Commerce &Industry, with Trade Fair Authority of
India(TFAI).
What is ITPO?
 ITPO is the nodal agency of the Government of India under aegis of Ministry
of Commerce and Industry (India) for promoting country's external trade.
 It deals with promotion of trade both at micro and macro levels.
 ITPO provides a wide spectrum of services to trade and industry and acts as a
catalyst for growth of India's trade.
 It manages India's world class exhibition complex which is constantly
upgraded to keep it in a high standard of readiness.
Where it is located?
 India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO),headquartered at Pragati
Maidan,New Delhi.
 Spread over an area of 123.5 acres and has established it as a renowned destination
for holding exhibitions, conventions, seminars,business meets and other trade
promotion activities.
 ITPO has four Regional Offices at Bangalore,Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai.
 ITPO had had overseas offices at New York, Frankfurt,Tokyo, Moscow and São
Paulo for pursuing opportunities for enhancement of India's trade and investment.
However, all overseas offices are now closed by ITPO

 Managing the extensive trade fair complex.
 Organising various trade fairs and exhibitions at its exhibition complex in
Pragati Maidan and other centres in india.
 Facilitatingthe use of Pragati Maidan for holding of trade fairs and
exhibitions by other fair organisers both from India and abroad.
 Timely and efficient services to overseas buyers in vendors identification,
drawing itineraries, fixing appointments and even accompanying them
where required.

buyer’s requirement.
 Organising buyer-seller meets and other exclusive india shows with a view
to bringing buyers and sellers together.

To promote, facilitate, encourage and coordinate various activities


and programmes to enhance India’s share of exports through trade
MISION in goods.
LOGO
 ITPO logo was designed for the erstwhile TFAI by eminent graphic
designer Benoy Sarkar in 1974.He is also credited for designing
iconic logos of Indian Airlines, Airports Authority of India, Delhi
Transport Corporation, etc.
 ITPO logo has an interesting depiction of letters T (Trade) and F
(Fair). The tone is a fusion of preservation of traditions of Trade and
Investments along with modern identity of ITPO. The logo has a
universal form. It signifies an authority of India exercising trade
through fairs and exhibitions in India and abroad
OBJECTIVES OF ITPO

 To support and assist small and medium enterprises to access markets


both in India and abroad
 To disseminate trade information and facilitate E-commerce/trade;
 To develop quality physical infrastructure, services and management so
as to enable holding of trade promotion events such as conventions and
trade exhibitions of international standard
 To enlist the involvement and support of the State Governments, other
government trade promotion agencies, trade and industry associations
in trade promotion of India’s external and domestic trade.
FUNCTIONS OF ITPO

 Organizing of fairs and exhibitions in India


 Participation in select overseas fairs and organizing of exclusive Indian trade shows in
select locations abroad
 Promotion through department stores, contact and product promotion programmes, and
market surveys
 Information dissemination on products and markets among trade and industry in India and
abroad.
 Organizing seminars, conferences and workshops on trade-related issues
 Up gradation of the facilities of Pragati Maidan to exacting international standards
Subsidiaries

ITPO has two subsidiaries namely

 Karnataka Trade Promotion Organisation (KTPO)


 Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation (TNTPO)
KTPO- Karnataka Trade promotion organisation

The Karnataka Trade promotion organisation has been established to


promote domestic and international trade. This is a joint venture of
India trade promotion organisation and Karnataka industrial areas
development board. The trade center Bengaluru has been set up at
plot no 121, export promotion industrial park, Whitefield Bengaluru,
over an area of 48.35 acres.
TNTPO- Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation

To uplift the business and industry sector in Tamilnadu and move on to the next
level the Tamilnadu government initiated the process of venturing TNTPO that
got established as a joint venture of TIDCO and Indian Trade Promotion
Organisation (ITPO) at Nandambakkam, Chennai covering an area of 25.48
acres of land. The core motto of TNTPO found to improve the trade affairs of
the state.
International Trade and Convention Centre
(Kerala) 

International Trade and Convention Centre (Kerala) is proposed joint


venture project of Indian Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and Kerala
Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) at 25 acres of
land in the Kinfra Export Promotion Industrial Park in Kakkanad. The
project would require investment of Rs. 1125 million, of which 31.25 crore
each will be provided by the central and state governments and the
remaining Rs 50 crore will be mobilised via credit.
Conclusion

Govt. of India for organizing trade fairs, is committed to showcase excellence achieved
