Concept Design Sketches

In the illustrations below are the sketches of the park, at a

glance the overall look of the structure along side the lake
resembles the tentacles of an octopus. The area was designed to
improve the overall water quality of the Bao’an District in
Shenzhen. Through the opportunity of urban renewal, the space

Haoxiang Lake and the surrounding
watershed jointly carried out
ecological management, which greatly
improved the overall water quality. It
cites flexible regeneration methods to
bring positive environmental impacts,
and solve the growing community
residents' demands for the use of open
space, and the social problems
brought about by the rapid
development of the city.

the restoration of the forgotten site was
this simple park, but, with the rise of industrial
plants and increase of the population around the
lake, the area's water quality deteriorated over
time, and the lake itself was left untouched hence,
it was not safe for public use anymore. It was only
until the pandemic hit that the government took
action in renovating this place and was finished in

The design of Flora Trellis Café collaborates with LAAB

Architects, using parametric rhombus roof and curtain wall. Cafe
and toilets are arranged on both sides of the station, and the open
space in the middle is connected with the park, which is a popular
leisure place for citizens. Whether they choose to sit, lie down or

The design of Rainbow Bridge collaborate with SBP, using

a total length of 238 meters of curved steel box girder
structure, with a maximum span of 77 meters. In order to

minimize the impact on the river and the environment, a
rainbow bridge across the river was born, becoming the best
viewing spot for overlooking the park and surrounding

Subtle and light structures

throughout the park create
positive and negative spaces
within the planar division of
the park grounds. This is done
through the means of
columns, arches, and pylons.

 The team proposed to retain the original Shajing power plant
building and transform it into a cultural and creative exhibition educational
hall, reiterating the cultural attributes of the urban heritage and
designing various activity spaces around its surroundings, where wetlands
people of all ages can have access to the parks water features
which includes the Oyster-Shell Water Maze and Education
Wetland, and a grand lawn gathering events and cultural
performances.
