of the energy crisis in cities across India through the enterprise and
creativity of our youth!

This club comprises of Schools and Schoolchildren, is formed to spark off a


youth initiative for curbing energy-wastage through various active
measures, and also popularizing the same among family, friends &
community.

It’s a platform where you share and expand your understanding and bring
about a chain-reaction that can significantly reduce wasteful use of energy
in the city & protect our resources and environment.

The rising levels of emissions are due to increase use of energy

Bulb – used 10 hrs a day  0.10 kW x 10 hrs x 30 days = 30 kW-hrs (units)

CFL – used 10 hrs a day  0.022 kW x 10 hrs x 30 days = 6.6 kW-hrs (units)

REPLACING BULBS WITH CFLs SAVES 22% ENERGY


Air Conditioning
 Always keep ACs at 24 C, the optimum temperature for efficient operation

 Keep filters cleaned

Refrigerators
 Do not open the door of the refrigerator too often
 Check your refrigerator for any leakage by checking the seal of the door.

Other Appliances & Devices

 Use Instant Geysers in place of Storage Geysers


 Switch off appliances from the plug point
 Use the computer’s sleep mode or switch off the monitor
 Remember Heating Devices cause a lot of wastage
 Opt for Star-rated appliances during replacement

10 electric bulbs of 60 watts each, and they are used for 8 hours everyday.
 
Then your daily energy consumption for electric bulbs =

10 x 60 watts x 8 hours = 4800 watt-hours


Your monthly energy consumption for electric bulbs =
4800 watt-hours x 30 days = 144000 watt-hours = 144 kilowatt-hours
OR
144 units.

1 Unit : 1 kilowatt-hour
