Noise Pollution

Noise pollution occurs when unwanted sounds in the environment reach levels that negatively impact human or animal activities like communication and sleep. Common sources of noise pollution include vehicles, aircraft, construction equipment, and factories. Noise is characterized by high amplitudes, high frequencies, or a combination of both, making it displeasing to hear. Exposure to excessive noise can cause both short-term issues like increased heart rate and long-term health problems like hearing loss and anxiety. Methods to reduce noise pollution include using silencing devices, creating sound barriers, enforcing quiet policies, and separating noisy industrial areas from residences.

different from other pleasing sounds
due to its very high amplitudes, high
frequencies, or a combination of both.
