Is a function a relation?
Suppose there is a vending machine, with five
buttons labeled 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Scenario 1:
Pressing Button 1 will dispense a bottled water.
Pressing 2, will give you a milk drink while
pressing 3 will give you a coffee drink. If 4 is
pressed, it hands out fruit drink. Then pressing
5, gives a soda.

Scenario 2: Same vending machine, same


buttons, same five products dispensed.
However, when you press button 3, you
sometimes get a coffee drink and sometimes
get a soda. Otherwise, everything is the same
as in Scenario 1.
