 Introduction
Vinyl flooring:
• Vinyl flooring is a product composed of several Layers of Different Materials Sandwiched
Together to form a durable, practical and affordable Floor covering.
Rubber flooring:
Rubber is mainly made from Latex extracted from rubber trees like Para Rubber Tree similarly
to how maple syrup is extracted from a maple tree. The Latex is then combined with other
organic polymers and water to form a rubber compound that is used in everyday products.
• Its a kind of resilient flooring and its more durable like vinyl and linoleum. Its easy to clean.
its suitable for all kind of activity areas.

• Step 7:Roll back vinyl
• Step 8:Cut vinyl
• Step 9:Spread adhesive material
• Step 10:Attach flooring to the adhesive
• Step 11: Replace the shoe moulding and trim
• Step 12:Move furniture back
• Step 13:Clean vinyl flooring
 Advantages
• It depends upon the quality of the product we choose.
• It is comfortable, quite underfoot, Resistant to damage and moisture,Easy

 Disadvantages
• Vinyl flooring is difficult to remove once itis glued down.
• It can sent with heavy objects on top of it.
• It can be punctured With sharp objects.
• It has inability to support very high temperatures.
• Shows fading And decolourisation with excessive UV Exposure.
 Rubber flooring
• Rubber is a tough, durable and resilient material and water resistant material just like vinyl and is gaining
importance in high traffic environments.
Types of rubber flooring:
• Rubber tiles
• Rubber sheeting
Types of material used in rubber flooring:
• Genuine natural rubber(latex)
• Synthetic rubber
• Recycled rubber
It is versatility,and interlocking systems of rubber tiles used in gyms,small fitness studios,weight rooms,locker
rooms,etc.
 Installation and costing
Installation:
• Preparing the sub floor is the first step.
• PIt is the most easy to install as it uses interlocking system or edge pins that hold the tiles together.
• It can be easily cut with a sharp knife to get desired shapes.
• If it is to be glued down then it is quite complicated to install. And even if the flooring was glued down, the adhesives
may also be susceptible to fire.
• If we install below ground ,we need to Include vapour barrier To avoid seeping from underground.
Costing:
• Some Premium tiles are quite expensive,for gyms it may cost rs.145/sq.ft, For living areas it can go upto rs.890 to
1,112/sq.ft ,On avg it can be upto rs.222 to 593 /sq.ft

 Maintenance and durability
Maintenance
• It is very easy to clean just requires a damp mop to clean it.
• Some types of tiles can be polished with water soluble wax to make it
more resistant.
• Wax may be reapplied periodically,Synthetic rubber flooring is more stain
resistant than natural rubber flooring.
 Advantages
• Resistance to tough works and high trafficking.
• Numerous style option,perfect fit for the space.
• Quick and easy installation ,with their interlocking systems and light weight.
• No adhesive required,if damage occured It can be replaced and not the
whole set to be changed.
• Easy to remove, store and reuse in other locations.
• It is Quite soft to legs.
 Disadvantages
• The floor may not be completely seamless.
• Seams may Let the water to the go down floor.
• Smooth, untextured floors may become slippery when it is wet.
• The rubbery smell can be occured within a couple of months.
• Design option are very limited.
• Warning:While rubber is fairly resistant to catching fire, synthetic rubber materials,
when they do catch fire after being exposed to sufficient heat, may produce toxic
gases.1 To guard against this, choose products that do not contain PVC materials.
 Differences
Differentiation between vinyl & rubber
