Starter: Complete The Sheet Putting Ticks or Crosses and Filling The Information

The document discusses the rock cycle and how rocks change forms. It begins by explaining that the rock cycle shows how rocks change and how material is recycled over time. It then describes the three main types of rocks - sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic - and how they are related to one another in the cycle through processes like uplift, weathering, deposition, and heat/pressure. Uplift produces mountains and provides evidence for the rock cycle by revealing older rock beneath the surface.

material is recycled over the years.

The story of the Rock Cycle
Hello, my name is Tom and I live deep inside
the Earth. It is nice and hot down here. I am
MAGMA which is molten rock. This is a story
about a my life……….
I was pushed out of the hot magma
chamber, into the open air! It was cold
and I set hard like toffee I am now called
IGNEOUS rock.
Over time I got worn away by rain and wind
this is called PHYSICAL WEATHERING.
Some of my friends were worn away by plant
roots (BIOLOICAL WEATHERING) and by
acid rain (CHEMICAL WEATHERING).
Eventually I was completely washed away into
a stream (TRANSPORTATION) and I sat
at the bottom of the stream for ages
(DEPOSITION).
After a while mud, sand, dead plants and
animals sat on top of me- they were heavy.
I got squashed and pushed downwards. I
am now called SEDIMENTARY rock (which is
not always red).
I was pushed even deeper into the Earth and
Squashed, I was getting hotter. I was
changing into METAMORPHIC rock……..
One day, I was so hot I melted! I realised
I was back in the MAGMA chamber.

What sentence best describes uplift

Two rocks collide huge rocks push rocks uplift. Old rock is made

Two rocks collide huge forces push rocks upwards revealing old rock

Continents hit which pushes rock together and uplift happens.
