3500b Introduction

The 3500B series engines provide 1482 horsepower at 1800 RPM for standby generator applications, 1000-1100 horsepower at 1600-1800 RPM for marine propulsion, and 1500 horsepower at 1925 RPM for marine E rating engines. The engines feature an ADEM II ECM for variable injection timing and precision fuel injection at 20% higher pressure for better efficiency and lower emissions. The 3500B’s intake and exhaust system controls the amount of air
available for combustion. The system includes a high-mount
aftercooler and low-inertia turbochargers-two on V-8 engines, two
on all marine models-and four on V-12 and V-16 EPG versions. Air
flow is the same on both sides of the engine. Turbochargers draw
intake air though air cleaners, compressing it for improved
combustion, then forcing the compressed air to the aftercooler.
