Related To Current E-
Learning Process

E-learning process can be related to the uses and gratification theory.

The public has the power (active) in determining the use of mass media including media on the
internet in accordance with their needs and gratification with the information needed.
Uses and gratification theory asserts that people use media to gratify specifics wants and needs.
Unlike many media theories that view media users as passive, uses and gratification sees users
as active agents who have control over their media consumption.
The Covid-19 pandemic forced a policy of social distance, or physical distance, to minimize the
spread of Covid-19. This policy is strived to slow the spread of the Corona virus in the
community. For this reason, the community responds by study from home, through e-learning. This
can be said that people actively seek certain media and certain content to achieve gratification.

E-learning is a system or concept of education that utilizes information technology in
teaching and learning.
Characteristics of E-learning according to Nursalam (2008: 135) are:
1. Utilizing electronic technology services.
2. Utilizing the advantages of computers (digital media and computer networks)
3. Using self learning materials then stored on a computer, so it can be accessed by
lecturers and students anytime and anywhere.
4. Utilizing learning schedules, curriculum, learning progress results, and matters relating
to education administration can be seen at any time on the computer.

“In my opinion,E-learning resources such as online classes are
1. More easily absorbed, meaning using multimedia facilities in
the form of images, text, animation, sound, video.
2. Much more cost-effective, meaning that it does not need to
require an instructor, no need for a minimum audience, can be
anywhere, can be anytime.
3. Much more concise, meaning that there are not many class
formalities, directly on the subject, and the subjects are just as
needed.
4. Available 24/7, meaning mastery of the material depends
on the enthusiasm and absorption of students, can be
monitored, assignments can also be anytime. -PITA

“In my opinion, with e-learning is very beneficial and makes it easier

for me to attend lectures, making it easier for students to collect
assignments via online without needing to print and go to campus to
collect them. and for student attendance and lecture material can be
done anywhere via mobile phones or laptops. But e-learning also
makes it difficult for students who don't have internet facilities and
don't have mobile phones or laptops.”
GUS – SURYA
“In my opinion about online learning is less effective because the lecturer cannot
directly monitor the student is concentrating on the material provided or not.
but the online class really helped us to get material from the lecturers even
though we were staying at home because of the pandemic corona DEVITA
virus” -

“In my opinion, the existence of e-learning or online class

can facilitate lecturers in the teaching process, as well as
saving transportation costs, energy and time that students
or lecturers usually need to go to college and students
also easily access material anywhere. However, e-learning
is also ineffective because of the many obstacles
experienced by lecturers or students such as bad internet
networks, device problems, application errors when the
learning process begins.”
