Anaemia

Anaemia is a medical condition where the haemoglobin level or red blood cell count is lower than normal. The document discusses the prevalence of anaemia in India, Jharkhand, and Bokaro according to NFHS surveys. Anaemia rates in children under 5, pregnant women, and women of reproductive age are particularly high in Bokaro compared to Jharkhand. Causes of anaemia include iron deficiency, vitamin deficiency, infections, and blood cell destruction. Symptoms are pale skin and nails. The government has launched a strategy to reduce anaemia prevalence by 3% annually through interventions targeting 6 beneficiary groups, 6 interventions, and 6 institutional mechanisms including coordination, monitoring, and strengthening supply chains.
