There are many passwords which we use in our daily life (access to
different web sites, online banking, email accounts etc.)
It is not secure to use the same password across different accounts –
if one account is compromised this makes all other accounts
vulnerable
But it is hard to remember different passwords for different accounts
Solution - Password Manager
Passwords are saved in encrypted database
Password is required to decrypt and open it
Location for this database can be specified (Local folder, removable
device, network share, Сloud Storage like DropBox or Google Drive)

Full Disk Encryption* – NVMe
support
First SSDs used SATA bus. But SATA was designed primarily for
interfacing with HDDs, and it became increasingly inadequate
for SSDs that improved in speed over time.

Newest SSDs are using NVM Express (Non-Volatile Memory


Host Controller Interface Specification) for better
performance results so NVMe support is required on the FDE
side (new bus drivers, new SSD drivers, new naming
conventions for SSD enumeration).

Full Disk Encryption – Multi-
disk support
5 years ago over 99% of all laptops were equipped with just
one HDD. Now more and more laptops are using more than
one hardware storage device (SSD+HDD combination etc.).

Multi-disk support allows to choose which disk to encrypt.


Full Disk Encryption – Simple
PBA
Simple PBA is no longer using Linux, it works in an UEFI
environment and solves known issues with Linux hardware
drivers, video cards etc.
Advantages:
No more hardware dependencies.
Runs with 99% probability.
If regular PBA fails to start - there will be an alternative, more
compatible Simple PBA option.
Full Disk Encryption – Simple
PBA
Simple PBA limitations:
Text mode instead of GUI (with possibilities to add GUI in future
versions).
No help desk.
Limited smart card support in Simple UEFI PBA (e.g. only CCID cards
can be added in future versions).
No smart card support in Simple PBA BIOS

Simple PBA is not a complete alternative to today's PBA due


to known limitations. However, this allows us to work with any
hardware.
Full Disk Encryption –
Adaptive Boot Mode
It will try to use Standard PBA and switch to Simple PBA only if
Standard PBA fails with all possible options.

The customer does not have to deal with the problem, the
software finds and fixes the problem itself.
Full Disk Encryption –
Virtual keyboard support
In the past all PCs were equipped with a keyboard.

Nowadays high-end tablets (e.g. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 &4 )


can operate without any physical keyboard – just a touch
interface and virtual keyboard.

This requires virtual keyboard support in PBA.
