PARTS OF THE BODY TO BE MEASURED CAN BE TAKEN IN

• Horizontal Measurement
Is taken from the left of the figure to the right.

• Vertical Measurement
Is taken from the top of the body figure to its base.

• Circumferential Measurement
Is taken around the body.

• Circumferential Measurement

Loosely measure around the circumference at the base
NECK of your neck.
Lift your arms to the side. Measure around your body
BUST crossing over the fullest part of your bust.
BUST TO Measure from your one nipple to your other
BUST nipple.
UPPER Measure around the torso directly above the bust
BUST line.
LOWER Measure around the torso directly under the bust
BUST line.
Measure around the waist at the narrowest natural
WAIST waistline point, allowing 2 fingers between your
waist and tape measure.
Measure around the fullest of your hips. As a guide
HIPS this is often 20 cm. below your natural waistline.
Stand with your knees together.
SHOULDER Measure from tip of the shoulder to the center of

FRONT
Measure from tip of shoulder over bust to natural

Measure across the back of neck from socket of one

SLEEVE Measure around the shoulder under the armpit.

BICEP Measure around the fullest part of the upper arm.
Do a fairly loose measurement around the bent
ELBOW elbow.
Men’s Apparel
(Vertical Measurement)
SHIRT taken from the nape down the center back to the
LENGTH desired length.
SLEEVE Taken from the shoulder tip point down to the desired
LENGTH sleeve length.
LENGTH OF
Measures along the side below the waist band to the
PANTS OR
desired length of the pants.
SHORTS
Measured by placing a ruler under the crotch then

measuring below the waistband down to the top of
OR RISE the level of the ruler.
Men’s Apparel
(Horizontal Measurement)
SHOULD Taken from one shoulder point to the other.
ER
BUST/ Taken around the body with the tape measure passing
over the fullest part of the shoulder blade at the back
BREAST and over to the apex.
UPPER
Taken around the fullest part of the arm in line with
ARM the armpit.
GIRTH
LOWER ARM Taken around the body with the tape measure passing
GIRTH/SLEEV over the fullest part of the shoulder blade at the back
E WIDTH and over to the apex.
NECK Taken around the neckline.
MEASURE
WAIST Taken around the smallest part of the waistline. Insert
two fingers under the tape measure for ease or
(W) allowance.
HIP OR SEAT Taken around the fullest part of hip (buttocks) with
(H) two fingers inserted under the tape measure.
DESIRED BOTTOM OR
HEM Taken around the fullest part of the
CIRCUMFERENCE OR bottom.
LEG HOLE
