OBJECTIVE OF THE CLASS

At the end of the class, students will identify the rules in the
workplace and the possible hazards that could happen in it
using the modals must, need to, have to could and might .

MUST-MUSTN’T
( deber= strong obligation)
Must is used to express obligation, give orders and give
advice. It can only be used for present and future reference.
When the past is involved, you use have to.
EXAMPLES:
1-You must wear a helmet at workplace.
2-You must not go into the workshop without wearing the protective equipment.
3-Harness must be worn by workers when they work at height.

Have to  is used to express obligation.
EXAMPLES:

1-You have to wear your safety equipment when you enter to work into the
warehouse.
2-You have to wear a face mask at workplace.

NEED TO (NECESSITY)

NEED TO  is used to express necessity. When something is


necessary to do.
EXAMPLES:

1-You need to wear your safety boots when you walk on slippery floor.
2-You don’t need to bring jewelry at workplace.

MODALS COULD-MIGHT= possibility

We use modals could and might (podría in Spanish) to talk


about possibility.when something is possible to happen.
Example:
1-There is too much water spilled on the floor, someone might fall.
2-There are some cables outside the switcher, someone could suffer
an electric shock.
