Thermal Printers PDF

A thermal printer works by selectively heating coated thermal paper with fine heated pins as the paper passes over the thermal print head. This causes the coating to turn black in the heated areas, producing an image. Thermal printers are commonly used to print receipts and labels. They have advantages like not requiring ink or toner and being durable and fast, but disadvantages include usually only printing in black and white, the paper being expensive, and print heads needing replacement. The two main types are direct thermal, which prints directly onto coated paper, and thermal wax transfer, which uses heat to bond wax to paper.
