API 16CR 1st Edition- Draft
• The first committee meeting for API 16CR was held virtually in
December 2020 with thirty-five participants, made up primarily
of equipment manufacturers and land-based drilling contractors.

• More input from equipment owners and offshore operators is


requested, to obtain a broader document input.

• The purpose of the document and the scope of applicable


equipment was defined.

• API 16AR and API 6AR will be guiding documents with input
from API 16FR committee members.

API 16CR 1st Edition- Small Work
Groups
• Committee members volunteered to work in small work groups in
order to begin developing the various sections of the document.
• Work Group 1: Terms, Definitions, Acronyms, and Abbreviations
• Work Groups 2: Scope, Quality Control Requirements, QMS
Requirements, Responsibilities
• Work Group 3: Repair/Remanufacture Minimum Requirements,
• Work Group 4: Materials, Bolting
• Work Group 5: Welding
• Work Group 6: Marking, Storing/Shipping, Records, Traceability and
Documentation
• The small work groups are expected to have initial virtual meetings
in January 2021.

API 16CR 1st Edition- Next Meeting
• The next API 16CR meeting is currently scheduled to be
held virtually on February 18, 2021, with additional
committee meetings held every other month.
