Telenursing

Telenursing utilizes telecommunications and information technology to provide nursing services when physical distance exists between patients and nurses. It allows nurses to serve on the healthcare delivery team regardless of location. Telenursing benefits patients through increased access to care and savings on time and costs. It also benefits nurses through time savings and access to continuing education. While telenursing presents challenges like reimbursement issues, lack of integration and privacy concerns, nurses play a key role in ensuring proper documentation, maintaining patient privacy, and establishing therapeutic relationships through this remote care model.
