PURPOSE

To provide an overview of the digital content


development and distribution initiative.
BACKGROUND
The White Paper on e-Education (2004)
requires that the curriculum be
“supported through effective, engaging
and sustained software, electronic
content and online learning resources,
and teachers, content developers and
administrators who contribute effectively
to these resources”.

1. INTERACTIVE WORKBOOKS
The following Interactive Workbooks are available:
• Grade R: Literacy: Afrikaans & English
• Grade 1: First Additional Language: IsiXhosa, IsiZulu,
Sepedi, Setswana, Sesotho, Afrikaans & English
• Grade 1 & 2: Mathematics in English
• Grade 2: First Additional Language: Afrikaans & English
• Grade 3: First Additional Language: Afrikaans & English
• Grade 3: Mathematics in English & Afrikaans
• Grade 4: First Additional Language: English

RECOMMENDATIONS
• Distribute digital content to schools.
• Train teacher on integration of subject specific
digital content in teaching & learning.
• Monitor utilization of digital content by schools
• Regularly report on distribution & utilization of
the digital content as required by the Operation
Phakisa process.
• Encourage & support teacher to create their
own digital content (authorware)
