JPEG • JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group • Most popular image format used in the web • it uses lossy compression technique, so that the size of the image is less. GIF • GIF stands for Graphic Interchange Format • Limited to 8 bit pallet with only 256 colors • Uses the basic form of compression. • This format popularized in 1980’s as an efficient means to transmit image across data networks. • Best used for diagrams, cartoons, logos and animation effects. PRINCIPLES AND BASIC TECHNIQUES OF PRINCIPLES AND BASIC TECHNIQUES OF IMAGE MANIPULATION • CROPPING • COLOR BALANCE • ADJUSTING THE BRIGHTNESS and CONTRAST • COMPRESSION AND RE-SIZING • COLOR BLENDING CROPPING • a process of removing unwanted parts of the image focusing only on the subject. COLOR BALANCE • This command will allow you to make changes in the mixture of colors in an image. ADJUSTING THE BRIGHTNESS AND CONTRAST • This command is the most basic technique when adjusting the image tone. COMPRESSION and RE-SIZING • Image re-sizing means you're going to shorten the resolution of the image and Image compression is lowering the file size of the image without compromising the resolution COLOR BLENDING • Use special effects buttons available in different editing software. Combine colors that will give a dynamic image result. COMBINING MULTIPLE IMAGE
• Combining multiple image in order to create a brand new image. ACTIVITY #1 Take a photo Edit the photo State and explain the image file format and basic techniques
