At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. Analyze the context, content, and perspective of different kinds of primary


sources and determine how they affected the history of the Filipino people;

2. Determine the contribution of the different types of primary sources in


understanding Philippine History; and

3. To create valuable understanding with the events that happened the conflicts
between the muslim raider and Spanish Colonizer.

Background:

It was founded by Zaihirat Banu Codelli (CEO)along with Lim Suat Yen
( COO) and Jason Lai (Director of Content) in 1996.
Historical Background of the
Film:
This documentary talks about the Muslim
Raiders of the Sulu Sea region namely the
Iranun, Balangingi Samals, and the
Tausugs, and how they protected their
business (slave trade), religion culture and
power during the Spanish colonization.
Introduction
“Raiders of the Sulu Sea” is a

focusing on Zamboanga City
depicting how the Spaniards
defended the city with the Fort
Pilar as Spain’s last stronghold and
bastion of defense and economic
expansion in the South of the
Philippines.
Introduction:
It focuses on the slave raiding as retaliation on
colonizers since it was legal during those times
and the sophisticated ancient maritime vessels
and tools of war, and the well-organized forces
that is launched for slave raiding the coasts of
Mindanao Visayas, and Luzon, between July
to October called as the Pirate wind "Pirate
Monsoon"

Sultanate.

Ilanum. It is a heavy edged
sword often adorned with hair to
make it look intimidating

• deadly weapon sword used by
the Taosug warriors with single-
edged leaf blade made of thick
tempred steel.
