LESSON 10

MARY :
WOMAN FOR
SOCIAL JUSTICE
Who is the Blessed Virgin Mary?
Mary the Mother of God-
THEOTOKOS (God-bearer)
ushers in a time of justice and
an ordered social advocacy.
She reveals the promise of the
mercy of God.
THEOTOKOS
(God-bearer)
Three stages of life of Mary
 Fiat
 Magnificat
Stabat
In Latin, the word Fiat
means “let it be done.”
Mary's fiat was an
immediate acceptance of
and consent to God's will
for her life: “May it be
done to me.” Her yes was
total and complete; she held
nothing of herself back from
Solemnity of the Annuciation God.
MARCH 25
What are the words of Mary's fiat?
“Here I am, the servant of the
Lord; may it be done to me
according to your word.”
The Magnificat (Luke
1:46-55) is the Virgin
Mary's response to
Elizabeth's greeting,
glorifying God and
thanking Him for
choosing her to bear
His Son.
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord
My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior
For He has looked with favor on His lowly servant
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord

Ang puso ko'y nagpupuri

Nagpupuri sa Panginoon
Nagagalak ang aking Espiritu
Sa 'king tagapagligtas
Stabat Mater is the title of
a thirteenth-century Latin
hymn and it means "the
Mother was standing." In
Latin, the hymn consists
of twenty couplets which
describe the Sorrows
of the Blessed Virgin at
the Cross.
 Why is MARY important in Jesus life

One of the roles that Mary fulfils is the

mother that we see in early
Christianity; she's the role model for
mothers. She also plays an important role
throughout Christian history in providing us
with a female that's right at the heart of
events.
 Why is Mary important to us
Mary is one of the most
important figures in
Christianity, as the ultimate
symbol of motherhood her
clothing is a reflection of her
virtues such as her purity,
modesty, faith and love for her
child. In Christianity, she is not
only the mother of Christ but
also the mother of all humanity
Why do you described Mary

Mary is revered for her humility

and motherly love. She is honored by
all Christians, but particularly by
Roman Catholics, who believe
strongly in her mercy and her
power to intercede with God. The
Roman Catholic Church also
teaches the doctrine of Mary's
Immaculate Conception.
Why Mary is the mother of our savior

Mary being chosen

by God, the Father, to
bring Jesus Christ
into this world, and
her willingness to do
so is great cause for
celebration.
 Why Mary always wearing blue

Deeply rooted in Catholic

symbolism, the blue of her
cloak has been interpreted to
represent the Virgin's purity,
symbolize the skies, and
label her as an empress, for
blue was associated with
royalty.
MARIAN APPARITIONS
Marian apparitions are
considered expressions of
Mary's ongoing motherly
care for the church. The
understood purpose of each
apparition is to draw
attention to some aspect of
the Christian message, given
the needs of a particular time
and place.

The Four Marian Dogmas
 What is Dogma?
Dogma means the
doctrine of belief in a
religion. The literal
meaning of dogma in
ancient Greek was
"something that seems
true."
per Mariam ad Iesum
(through Mary we are
led to Jesus)
Salamat Maria
