INTRODUCTION:
• Nuclear energy is a powerful source of
electricity generated through controlled
nuclear reactions.
• While nuclear energy offers advantages
such as a low carbon footprint and
reliable power supply, it also presents
challenges, including safety concerns
and the proper disposal of radioactive
waste.
• Despite these considerations, nuclear
energy plays a vital role in meeting
global electricity demands.
• In this presentation, we will talk about
nuclear energy.
Safety Measures in Nuclear Power Plants:
• Nuclear power stations must take all
necessary safety measures to protect both
the public and their employees.
• Maintaining safety is essential because
any significant issue could have an impact
on everyone in the nuclear impact area.
• To prevent any potential incidents from
becoming serious, nuclear power facilities
include various safety mechanisms like
backup power supply, cooling systems,
and radiation shielding.
• Nuclear power plant operators receive

to remove rigorous training to handle potential safety
radioactive contamination incidents.
after the
Three Mile Island accident. • Safety is highly valued and strongly
ingrained in the nuclear sector.
Statistical Analysis of Nuclear Power Plants
• The first commercial nuclear power stations
started operation in the 1950s Nuclear is the
world's second-largest source of low-carbon
power.
• Thirteen countries in 2021 produced at least
one-quarter of their electricity from nuclear.
• France gets up to around 70% of its electricity
from nuclear energy, while Ukraine, Slovakia,
Belgium, and Hungary get about half from
nuclear.
• Future growth: Although the use of nuclear
power has declined in some countries in recent
years, there are still many nuclear power
projects under construction or planned
worldwide.
Statistical Analysis of Nuclear Power Plants
• Energy production: In 2019, nuclear
power plants generated around 2.6 trillion
kilowatt-hours of electricity worldwide,
which accounted for about 10% of global
electricity production.
• Safety record: The IAEA maintains a
database of all reported nuclear power
plant "Incidents" since the beginning of
the nuclear power era.
• According to the database, there have
been three major nuclear power plant
accidents - Three Mile Island, Chornobyl,
and Fukushima.

Nuclear Energy vs Other Energy Sources
Effects of nuclear power plants emissions:
The effects of nuclear power plants emissions include:
1. Radioactive Contamination
2. Air Pollution
3. Water Pollution
4. Habitat Destruction
5. Climate Change
Modern nuclear plants prioritize safety, emit minimal pollution, and
adhere to strict regulations. Thorough planning, good management, and
continuous improvement are crucial for minimizing environmental
impacts.
Nuclear Energy vs Fossil Fuel Energy
Nuclear energy: Splitting
uranium atoms releases heat and
energy through nuclear fission.
Reliability:
Nuclear plants require less
Fossil fuels: Ancient organic maintenance and have longer
operation periods compared to fossil
remains transformed by heat and fuel plants.
pressure into carbon-containing
fuels. Emissions:
Nuclear power is cleaner,
producing no greenhouse gases
but radioactive waste.
Power Plant Operation: Both
nuclear and fossil fuel plants
generate electricity using steam
to power turbines.
