For Smart India Hackton

This document outlines a study on developing inorganic polymer concrete using industrial byproducts. It aims to reduce the environmental impact of cement production by replacing cement with fly ash, rice husk ash, and alccofine as binders. The methodology involves a literature review, material collection, mix design development, experimental testing and curing of geopolymer concrete specimens and comparing results to ordinary Portland cement concrete. The objectives are to find an alternative binding material to reduce carbon emissions from cement production and utilize industrial waste materials in concrete.

INTRODUCTION
What's wrong with cement concrete?

• The cost of production and usage of cement has been

increased due to increase in the infrastructure development.
• Cement production releases high amount of CO2 to
atmosphere ( 1ton of cement production releases 1ton of
CO2 ) thus contributing to 7% of world CO2 emission.
• Cement is the one of the most energy intensive material and
the natural resources are utilized

2
ALTERNATIVE FOR CEMENT CONCRETE

Replace the use of cement in concrete with industrial waste

material like Fly ash, Rice husk ash (RHA) and Alccofine.
Develop alternative concrete with sustainability.
Example: Inorganic Polymer Concrete

3
INORGANIC POLYMER CONCRETE

• Inorganic polymer concrete has the potential to

substantially curb CO2 emission.

• Produces a more durable infrastructure.

• Combines industrial byproducts like Flyash, Rice Husk

Ash and Alccofine to an useful product.
• Protect aquifers and surface bodies of fresh water via the
elimination of disposal.

5
CONSTITUENTS OF GEOPOLYMER
CONCRETE
• Fly ash
• Rice Husk Ash (RHA)
• Alccofine
• Coarse aggregate (12.5-20mm)
• Fine aggregate (100% manufactured sand)
• Sodium based Alkaline solution
• Super plasticizer (sp conplast 430)
• water

6
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

• To find the alternate binding material for cement because the

production of cement emits large amount of CO2 which causes
global warming. So in this work industrial byproducts and
alkaline activator used as binding material in concrete.
• Use the industrial by-product materials such as Flyash, RHA,
Alccofine (which are binders to make Inorganic polymer
Concrete).
• To study the compressive strength of Inorganic polymer
concrete specimens cured under ambient temperature and came
the results with the OPC concrete specimens.

7
METHODOLOGY

• Literature survey
• Collection of materials
• Mix design for Geopolymer Concrete
• Experimental work
• Curing
• Testing
• Interpretation of test result

8
NOVELTY

• Effective utilization of industrial byproducts can

replace the OPC complete and helps in making
the concrete ecofriendly material.
• It also provides the better solution for the safe
disposal of industrial byproducts.
