WHEN YOU WRITE A PHOTO CAPTION, THERE ARE SOME RULES YOU HAVE TO
FOLLOW.

1. Answering 5WH questions:

What is the title?
Who/What is this?
What is going on?
When did it happen?
Where did it happen?
Why did it happen?
How did it happened?
2. USE THE PRESENT TENSE TO DESCRIBE ACTION IN THE PHOTO

Form : Subject + Verb1 + Object or Complement

Example : A Sumarian boy wears a Barcelona football team
uniform.
A bechoe is finally able to get a bus on its wheels on Monday,
March 28, 2010.
Note: The first sentence is often written in the present tense to
give the sense of immediacy. The following sentence is written
in the Past Tense.
Example: There were no major injuries reported among 42
students.
3. WRITTEN IN A COMPLETE SENTENCE.
Mostly in declarative sentence. One or two sentence(s) are enough todescribe a
photo. But if more explanation is needed, a caption may have three sentences.
Example :
A Sumarian boy + wears + a Barcelona football team uniform.
Subject + Predicate + Object
4. CLEARLY IDENTIFY THE PEOPLE AND LOCATION THAT APPEAR IN THE PHOTO. MIND
THE CORRECT NAMES.

Example :
Estonian Ambassador Sulev Kannike presents
his credentials to the President of Republic of
Moldova Nicolae Timofti.
For photographs of more than one person,
identify from left to the right. In case of large
group, identify only the notable person.
NOTE

Never include personal feelings. Avpoid

descriptive terms that interprete personal
feelings such as beautiful, scary, sad and
lovely.
In captions, facts without involving personal
emotion are should be given to readers .
The feeling and emotions are for readers to
decide.
HOW TO ANALYSE A PHOTO CAPTION
Example:
Unique library. Designed and built by Mihail and Victor Kramarenko, the
National Library of Baranus has become an architectural symbol in Minsk
for the dimond like shape and eye catching LED display in night.

What/ who : the national Library of Baranus
What is going on: has become an architectural symbol
Where : in Minsk
When : -
Why : for the diamond like shape and eye- catching LED
How : Designed and built by Mihail and Victor K

or book. And analyse it .
