OBJECTIVES

At the end of this presentation, the students are


expected to;
• Describe what a portfolio is.
• Identify the different types of portfolios.
• Explain the importance of portfolio to students
and teachers.
INTRODUCTION

One of the common ways that a teacher could use to


evaluate their students is through making a portfolio. A
portfolio assessment covers all the students’
accomplishments over a varied time and allows
students to take ownership to their progress.

SHOWCASE PORTFOLIO

• Showcases a student's most outstanding work or


production.
• Frequently connected to how much effort students
put into their work.
The following uses of showcase portfolio
are possible:

• Student achievement
• Post-secondary admission
• Employability
DOCUMENTATION PORTFOLIO

• Also called a “growth portfolio”


• Illustrates a person or a student's development
throughout time.
Documentation portfolio may be used for:

• Knowledge
• Skills and attitude
• Teamwork
• Career
PROCESS PORTFOLIO

• Is not only a compilation of a student's most


significant work
• In this portfolio, you may want to actively aim
to prevent the "digital dump" problem.
PRODUCT PORTFOLIO

• Its focus is on the end product rather than on


the process in which the product was
developed.
STANDARD-BASED PORTFOLIO

• Collects evidence that links student


achievement to particular learning standards.
ELECTRONIC PORTFOLIO/E-
PORTFOLIO

• Compilation of work (proof) in an electronic


format that shows how learning has progressed
over time.
IMPORTANCE OF PORTFOLIO
FOR TEACHERS

• Provide documented evidence of


teaching from a variety of sources
• To determine the efficiency of the
teaching
• To have a connection with the parents of
the students

ownership and responsibility over the
learning process.
• A way for students to critique their
own work and academic progress.
SUMMARY
