God Tells Me
John 19:25-27
A reading from the Gospel according to St. John.
Glory to you, O Lord.
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his
mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of
Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there
whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your
son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And
from that hour the disciple took her into his home.
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, O Lord Jesus Christ.
God Tells Me
Do you wonder why did Jesus entrusted
His mother, Mary, to John?

The other apostles of Jesus ran away and

kept their distance when Jesus was
captured and crucified. Except John, he
remained together with Mary, the mother
of our Lord Jesus.
God Tells Me
To remain with Jesus is to remain also with
His mother, Mary. Our Lord asked Apostle
John to take care of our blessed Mother. He
received this because he remained with her.
For John it was a greater risk for he might
too be persecuted because he was closed to
Jesus. However, he did not run away and
keep his distance from Jesus. It was
courage and faith.
God Tells Me

When we believe to Jesus, we

must also remain in knowing His
mother. It is because the person
on earth who knows Him most is
Mary, His Mother.
God Tells Me
If our Lord Jesus had so much respect for
Mary, His Mother, doesn’t she worthy of
our respect?

Write your short answer in your

notebook.
Tuesday
Christian Message

From the past years, we have learned the

following:

Our Blessed Mother Mary was

conceived without original sin. This the
reason we celebrate her Immaculate
Conception on December 8.
She has a perpetual virginity.
She’s a virgin before, during, and after
giving birth of Jesus. Even Joseph, her
husband, respected her. Joseph was
chosen to become her husband because
he was a righteous man.
Our Blessed Mother Mary was assumed
into heaven. Her body and soul were
brought to heaven. She doesn’t have
original sin and she is full of grace. This
is the reason we celebrate The
Assumption of the Blessed Virgin
Mary on August 15.
How did our Blessed Mother participate in
God’s plan of Salvation to mankind?

The Gospel of Luke 1:26-38 shows us that the

Blessed Virgin accepted the mission to be the
Mother of our Lord Jesus, our God and Savior.
She kept this mission from womb to tomb. She
is very special in the eyes of God because she’s
full of grace. There is not other person like her
on earth.
Why do we call Mary as Mother of God? Is she really
the Mother of God?

When we call Mary as Mother of God, it does not mean

she is the Mother of God the Father. We call her the
Mother of God because of Jesus. The wholeness of the
natures of Jesus is truly God and truly Man. We can’t
separate His natures. Mary is called the Mother of God
because Jesus is God. She is the mother of Jesus.

Don’t be confused.

Why do we call Mary as Mother of the
Church?

The Gospel of John 19:25-27 tells us that

Jesus entrusted Mary to his disciple John.
John represents the Church to receive
Mary as his Mother. The household of
John was no longer is biological family but
the Church.
During the Pentecost, the Holy
Spirit came to all the disciples of
Jesus who remained in Him. The
blessed Virgin was present too.
The Pentecost was the start of the
mission of the Church to proclaim
the Good News. Mary remained
under the care of John.
Our blessed Virgin was as
example of perfect stability
despite of great tribulations.
The early Christians
acknowledged her intercession
and prayers for the Church.
Wednesday
Doctrine

Let us remember that the Catholic Church does

not teach and will never teach to worship Mary.
Instead, the Church teaches us to venerate her.
From our lesson about prayer, we talked about
it. Veneration is a higher respect we give to her
than the saints. We call it Hyperdulia.
Dogmas are official teachings of the
Catholic Church. They cannot be changed.
There are four dogmas about the Blessed
Virgin Mary:

1. Mary, Mother of God

2. Perpetual Virginity of Mary
3. Immaculate Conception of Mary
4. Assumption of Mary
Among the four dogmas about the
Blessed Virgin Mary, which is the
closest to you?
Moral

Jesus until the end. From womb to
tomb, she cherished and endured

Our Mother have shown us a to
stay in our faith even during
difficult times. She made an
example of a perfect disciple of
Jesus.
