Rocket

The document provides an overview of the invention and history of rockets. It discusses how the first rockets were invented in China around 1200 AD for fireworks and later used for 700 years for war. The document outlines the major parts of a modern rocket including the structural system, payload system, guidance system, and propulsion system. It describes how liquid rocket engines use stored fuel and oxidizers that are pumped and burned in a combustion chamber, while solid rocket engines mix fuel and oxidizers into a solid propellant cylinder. The document speculates on future applications of rockets for space exploration and advancing human understanding.

History of the rocket
History of the rocket
what is a rocket?
The rocket is a word that
can mean multiple things,
the first one that people
mostly think of, and the one
that is being discussed, is
the thing and long round
shaped vehicle that launches
into space.
When was the Rockets used for war
rocket invented? For the next 700 years,
many armies used rockets
First rockets for war.
Originally when the first
rockets were made, they
were specifically used for 1st rocket to enter
fireworks. It was in China 1st rocket to go to the space

Present rockets
Present day rockets
What are present day rockets What do they look like?
used for? Currently present day rockets
Rockets these days are used for usually look something like this:
things like:
• Fireworks
• Missiles and other weaponry
• Ejection seats
• Launch vehicles for artificial
satellites
• Human flight
• Space exploration
Present day rockets
Who created the modern day
rocket?
The person who created the modern day
rocket is, Robert Hutchings Goddard
(1882-1945). He is considered the father
of modern rocket propulsion.
When was the first modern rocket
created?
The first modern rocket was created and
flew on in the year 1926, march 16 and
these feats were done by Robert
Hutchings Goddard.
What countries make
present day rockets?
-United states -France
-China -India
-Japan -South Korea
-united kingdom -Russia
-Italy -Iran
-Israel - United Arab Emirates
-Brazil -north Korea
04.
Parts of the rocket
What are the parts of a rocket?
The rocket has many parts, and there are 4 major systems of
the rocket that are very important.
These 4 major systems include:
-the structural system
-the payload system
-the guidance system
-the propulsion system
05.
How each part of the rocket
work
The structural system
What is the structural
system used for?
The structural system is
basically the frame of the
rocket, it is very similar to the
fuselage of an airplane(body
of the airplane).
The structural system
The materials and how the
structure is made
The frame is made from a very strong but also light
material, usually something like titanium or
aluminum. And then they usually use long stringers
(surface stiffener) which goes from the top to the
bottom that are connect to hoops (circular frames)
which go around the circumference. Then the skin
(the rocket’s shell) is then attached to the stringers
and hoops to form the basic shape of a rocket. (the
skin may usually be coated with a thermal
protection system to keep out the heat of air). Then
fins are attached at the bottom of the frame to help
The payload
system
What is the payload system
used for?
The payload system, is the system
that carries the scientific or
technological instrument. The
payload is quite obviously, the
instrument that is being carried.
(The payload system depends on
the rockets mission. )
The payload system
In the past when the first rockets were
made, the payloads were usually
fireworks, and then when people were
using it for war, the payloads were
explosives. But currently now, these
same rockets used for fire works and
war, are modified and used to launch
satellites and rockets with missions
like, spying, communication, weather
monitoring, planetary exploration,
space exploration, and observatories.
The guidance system
What is the guidance system of a
rocket?
The guidance system of a
rocket is basically just the
system that guides the rocket,
and it often consists of very
sophisticated sensors, on-
board computers, radars, and
communication equipment to
maneuver the rocket in flight.
The guidance system
How do modern rockets maneuver and control the
rocket ?
Modern rockets generally just rotate the nozzle to maneuver
the rocket, and the guidance system must also provide a good
level of stability to ensure that the rocket does not tumble
during flight.
The propulsion system
What is the What are the main classes
propulsion system of propulsion system?
in the rocket? There are 2 main classes
The propulsion system of propulsion system:
in a rocket is the
system used to push
-liquid rocket engines
the object forward. -solid rocket engines
The propulsion system
Liquid rocket engine Solid rocket engine
The liquid rocket engine has: The solid rocket engine has:
-fuel -fuel- oxidizer mixture
-oxidizer propellant tanks -flame front
-pumps -combustion chamber
-combustion chamber with a -throat
nozzle -nozzle
The propulsion system
How does the liquid rocket engine work?
In a liquid rocket engine, firstly the stored fuel and stored oxidizer are
pumped into a combustion chamber where they are then mixed and
burned. The combustion produces a lot of exhaust gas at a very
high temperature and pressure. The hot exhaust is passed through
a nozzle which then speeds up the flow. Thrust is then produced
The propulsion system
How does the solid rocket engine work?
In a solid rocket engine, the fuel and oxidizer are mixed together into a
solid propellant which is then packed into a solid cylinder. And a hole
through the cylinder acts as a combustion chamber. When the mixture is
burned, combustion takes place on the surface of the propellant. A flame
front is generated which burns into the mixture and the combustion
produces lots of exhaust gas at a very high temperature and pressure. (The
amount of exhaust gas that is produced depends on the area of the flame
front and engine designers use a variety of hole shapes to control the
change in thrust for a particular engine.) The hot exhaust gas is passed
through a nozzle which then speeds up the flow. Thrust is then produced

In the future
In the future
How it can help Nasa’s future rockets
Rockets in the future can Nasa said that for their rockets
definitely help humans with in the future they would try
space exploration, it can also and develop those rockets to
definitely help humans with make it carry much more
finding about our world too. heavier things, and that they
will look much more like the
earlier ones, thin , round and
tall.
In the future
My opinion
In my opinion I truly hope
that in the future, not so far
ahead, we will be able to
advance with space
exploration to the level of
maybe even leaving the solar
system.
